6. I'm trying, but so is most of Europe and America
I hope this works out well for them. I think that it should because there are thousands of us out here that are ready for a fresh approach to buying music.

11. The page is http://www.inrainbows.com/
you need to go there to buy it for whatever price you decide... the radiohead site itself doesn't seem to be much help.

I feel obligated to mention that Radiohead took their name from the Talking Heads song, not the other way around. ;)

27. That page currently brings up an authentication form...
...that requests a user name and a password.

Looks like they've locked it down to keep their servers from melting.

20. I'm not downloading it
because I have no money to spend on discretionary items. If I had money, this would not be in the top ten of CDs I'd download.

If I did download it, I'd also pay $10. My "fair" rate feels these days like a buck a song or a tenner for a CD.

23. I think it's seriously cool that they are willing to try this approach
but as a professional songwriter, I see terrible trouble coming for music

I read that in a local humor/comment free paper yesterday.

25. I don't know Radiohead from Roxy Music

So at some point in the future, I'll probably download the album for free. If I really like it, I'll go buy some of their stuff. If not, I'll simply delete it.

Good for them, I hope this experiment works for them.

31. I did
I paid 3.50 pounds, which came to 3.95 with their processing charge. That's around $8.00, which I find to be a good price for an album download. $7.99 should be the price. I've only listened to In Rainbows once so far, but it is a very good Radiohead CD. While the first song, "15 step," sounds too much like Thom Yorke's The Eraser, the rest of the CD is experimental yet not as off the wall as Kid A. They come up with mystifying soundscapes.

32. BTW, what do people think of the sales method?
They say it's not a great audio quality (encoded at a bit rate of 160 kbps (kilobits per second)), and the physical CD will be released in January. It's obviously promotion for the CD, but I'm still glad they bypassed the labels.
