Meet our new kitty, Sunflower! (warning - several pics)
I picked him up today. He has a bit of ringworm which seems to be clearing up - the vet gave me some lotion to apply twice a day. He also has an intestinal parasite, so I have stuff for that, too. He tested negative for FIV and FeLV, and everything else looks great! We are keeping him in a spare bedroom for a week or so until the ringworm is completely cleared up. Monty and Morrissey know something's up, but aren't freaking out yet.

He is just precious. He's so full of love and purrs nonstop. He kneads constantly, even when he's washing himself. He loves to curl up on the bed, which is a four-poster, but he can get up on and off of it. We think he'll be an amazing kitty.

15. Orange tabbies are piss and vinegar
and so freaking adorable they are irresistible. I have one -- little Ricky, a total terror. He sits on top of the dresser and when I walk by, if I don't give him scritches, he clocks me.

20. Cute overload!!
Look at those big ears! He won't miss a thing with those. And you know my Sophie had a face like that when little and it really didn't change that much once she got older (she still has oversized ears with a smallish face).
Sunflower is a great name for this guy. He sounds like a total sweetheart......:loveya: :loveya:

28. Mr. DTBK named him
I am such a control freak that I had to fight to keep from forcing names on him (being Irish, I love Irish names, and my first choice was "Kennedy"). When he came up with "Sunflower" ("Sunny" for short), we both said, "YES!" We're from Kansas and love sunflowers, and one of my favorite songs is Bruce Hornsby's "Sunflower Cat (Some Dour Cat) (Down With That)", so it was perfect!

31. He's very smart - we can see that
He figured out that it's easier for him to get off the bed by jumping onto the nightstand first. You can just see his little brain working. He hasn't started crying to be let out of the room until this morning. I want to let him out, but will wait until at least Tuesday to let him get over his intestinal bug and (I hope) the ringworm. The alleged ringworm spot doesn't really look that bad - it didn't fluoresce at the vet's office, but I guess not all of them do. I'm putting the stuff on him twice a day and hoping for the best. He is just a bundle of love.

36. He's a beautiful boy
He tends toward the Oriental build. The face has the very narrow wedge-like shape. Expect some Siamese high spirits out of that one. And with those long legs he'll be quite a climber, I think.

Bet he's fun to watch!

He was that small ten years ago, then I could pick him up and toss him off the bed. I couldn't even start now he weighs twenty five pounds if he weighs an ounce. Does he give nose?

I'm glad Goldmine is doing well. They can live a long time with hyperthyroidism if treated appropriately. Our Ferg had it, as well as kidney problems, and lived to be 19.
