I bought a used car. Did I get fleeced?
So I found a car that I thought was a pretty good deal (but then, I know nothing about cars). The car is a 1991 Chrysler Dynasty, with a lot of new parts, under 19O 000 K (118 060 miles) on the odometer. Good tires and battery under warranty. The engine sounds fine (not too loud or shakey). Drives smooth and accelerates nicely. Almost no rust, and the car hasn't been in any accidents (driven by an old lady). My friend who knows about cars says the engine looks good.

I was confused at first, having thought it was a 1993 Dynasty, so I did a price check for that car and thought 2500 was more than fair. I found out later that it was a 1991...in a moment or rashness and trust of my friend, I said...meh.it's okay, and I bought it anyways for 2,500. After doing a search, I found out that a lot of '91 dynastys are being sold for a lot less money.

So, what is your opinion? Did I pay too much?

wish I could tell you more...but since it's not a Ford, you probably didn't get ripped off

3. if you feel like you got a good deal, then you did
why worry about what you might have paid? did you spend more than you planned to? are you happy with the purchase?

if so, don't sweat it.

4. Yes and No
Cars have both wholesale and resale value - sounds like you paid retail. Plus if there were new parts and work done on the car it might be worth a bit more.

6. probably a little, but if you are happy with it then don't worry.
It never fails no matter what kind of deal you make as soon as it's over you will spot a better one, so even if you paid less, an even cheaper one would have come to your attention. How's that for polly-anna-convoluted logic?

enjoy your car, check the oils and coolant regularly, keep the tires inflated properly and watch the mileage - if it starts getting worse have the car checked out. Oh and drive moderately.

7. My sister has a '90 model
She's been driving it a long time and hasn't been able to tear it up yet. That's saying a lot for her, I have seen her destroy some nice cars over the years. :(

Anyway, that's not a lot of miles at all for that car, so if it has been well maintained, it should last you quite a while. In today's market, I don't think $2500 is too much to give for a nice used car, especially when you look at the price of new ones.

Although I think I probably paid too much, I don't feel to bad about it. I know the lady I bought it from (grandmother of my brother in law), and she's and older (88 years old) widower, with a smallish pension. Even if I paid too much, I don't think I really paid too much :)

Edit: I bought it from her because she could no longer drive it safetly and it was just sitting there for the most part.
