One of the allegations is that while Grylls claimed to be sleeping outdoors, he was allegedly sleeping in hotels.

Crew members simulated molten lava by using smoke machines and hot coals. The smoke machines were used to simulate poisonous sulphur dioxide

And my personal favorite: Hiring a man in a bear suit because they could not get a tame bear,

2. Nice. While I think Bear has a more badass feel, Les seems
more real.

3. Bear is an entertaining host
Kind of reminds me of Ben Baily from Cash Cab.

But his credibility has certainly taken a hit. They've retooled the show, even re-edited earlier episodes, and it just doesn't have the same feel anymore.

4. Oh, that was hilarious.
I didn't think it would be--Carson Daly isn't all that funny to me.

5. Agreed, I didn't realize Carson could act
He even kinda sorta looks like Bear.

Some other Bear parodies:

I'm no expert like him. Just the scouts, ski patrol and some mountaineering in my younger days.

But drinking your own urine in a life/death situation makes about as much sense as drinking seawater.

Don't run away wildly from a bear. They are faster than you are.

Don't use paracord for climbing.

Don't take unecessary risks.

A shirt is not a gas mask. Sulfur dioxide is a gas and will pass through the t-shirt as easily as Oxygen and Nitrogen. An improvised mask can help against smoke and other particulates but not a gas.

Eating grubs feasting on rotten flesh. Those grubs could carry the same parasites/pathogens as the dead animals. Pass them up in favor of grubs feating on vegetation.

The worst incident was squeezing water from fresh elephant dung. The funny part is that he had just passed up drinking from a dirty stream because of possible contamination.

I'm sure I can come up with more.
