Once again, DU provides profound enlightenment for me.
I didn't know it was October.

1. My dear Lara!
Kinda snuck up on you, didn't it?

I have to say that I remembered......

My oldest daughter's birthday is at the end of this week!

If I hadn't remembered that......

Early onset Alzheimer's, anyone?:scared:

5. It did!
Summer really is over.

:-(

On the upside, it is COMPLETELY acceptable for me to crack out the Halloween decorations, now!

4. I had a worse brain fart
I had a vague notion October was arriving, yet last night when DH said "What do you want for our anniversary?" I blurted out "Oh, shit!"

Yep, I, not he, had forgotten our wedding anniversary, which is THIS WEEK. D'OH!!

9. Ohhh... I've done that!
Edited on Mon Oct-01-07 01:31 PM by LaraMN
I forgot our eighth anniversary and THEN tried to argue (mistakenly) that it was our seventh anniversary.

Uh-ohs!

8. I didn't until a couple of hours ago
I looked at my watch, and it said "31" and I thought hmmmm... 31 September... that doesn't sound right.

10. I have to do the "30 days has September..." rhyme to remember
Edited on Mon Oct-01-07 01:50 PM by LaraMN
how many days are in a given month.

Of course, leap year hoses me up completely, even though only February gets messed up.

11. So do I
but since September is the first month mentioned in the rhyme, that one at least sticks in my mind. :D

12. Another trick to remember the number of days in a month...
Use the base knuckles on the back of your hand and the spaces in between.

Knuckles = 31 day months.
Valleys between knuckles = month of days less than 31.

Start on the knuckle of your index finger as 'January'. (January = 31)
Move to valley between index and middle finger as 'February'. (February = 28 or 29 days in a leap year.)
Move to knuckle of middle finger as 'March'. (March = 31 days)
Move to valley between middle and ring fingers as 'April'. (April is less than 31 days.)
Knuckle of ring finger is 'May'. (May = 31 days)
Valley between ring finger and pinky is 'June'. (June is less than 31 days)
Count your pinky knuckle twice for 'July' and 'August'. (Both at 31 days)
Then move back across your hand toward your index finger.
So, valley between pinky and ring fingers is 'September'. (Less than 31 days)
Ring finger is 'October'. (31 days!)
Valley is 'November'. (less than 31 days)
Finally your second pass on your middle finger is 'December'. (31 days.)

That's how I remember. :)
