2. I would think so.
I'm no vet, though, so

3. Yes
I believe some breeds are more likely to be affected than others and, just like people, age, activity level and even weather can come into play.

I'd call your vet for advice on what to give her - I've never had the issue and don't know what is safe for dogs.

4. Yep, they sure can.

Make sure she drinks enough water.

Check with the vet.
Maybe she/he can recommend something for it.

:hi:

5. Give her some 100% pure canned pumpkin with her food.. a couple of heaping tablespoons, and a little
less food.

12. I second this.
My dog sometimes gets stuck turds. I added pumpkin to his food (not pumpkin pie mix, the 100% pumpkin), and it keeps things operating smoothly.

My dog get severely constipated once. The doctor had to stick a probe in his little butt and ply little black turds out. When they hit the metal table they sounded like rocks.

7. Yep.
Change in diet is a big culprit, but that isn't the case here. If this keeps up, take her to the vet just so you have peace of mind.

8. yes
especially if they get dehydrated. And if it goes on too long they can get impacted, just like humans. Call a vet and ask what to do.

Also they could have an abdominal mass or blockage, an intestinal intussuception, there are alot of things that can cause them problems with defecation.

10. When it happened to my small dog
the vet recommended giving him olive oil. About 3/4 teaspoon for a dog weighing a little less than 20 pounds. Worked like a charm.

11. Of course.
However, that simple question shouldn't trump a trip to the vet if your dog is having digestive issues.

13. Definitely. Try milk of magnesia or adding a tsp. or two of oil to her food.
The oil's an easier remedy than the Milk of Magnesia, obviously.....
