Any Meerkat Manor fans watching tonight? (SPOILER)
I already knew what had happened because my local cable had a "Tribute to Flower" on demand Sunday...and I was wondering what happened to her until I scanned the Wikipedia entry.

In the episode "Journey's End", Flower is fatally bitten on the head by a cape cobra who, after being once chased away by the mob, slithers into the Whisker's den, where Flower's newborns lay with their babysitters. There is one scene where Flower is shown with the injury, and then shown going into a bolthole to die.

Very sad episode. I will miss seeing Flower kick meerkat ass, yet be a tender and loving mom!

3. It said spoiler, so it's my own fault for clicking, but...

Good lord. I don't remember who told me about Meerkat Manor, but I shake my fist at you, unknown DUer! I am a blubbering idiot almost every time I watch that show. Clearly, I need therapy. I just saw the episode where the Whiskers are finally reunited, and now you tell me this.

Flower!!!

4. Dang, That Is Exactly Why I Can't Watch That Show
It is way too dramatic. I don't even watch National Geographic since they showed a baby hippo being killed by a big male hippo on its first introduction to the group. The animal world is just as cruel as ours is.

5. I watched it.
Did Flower's newborns and the 2 babysitters get bitten, too? I'm glad they didn't kill Axel.

6. Wasn't obvious from the show last night
I was going to surf the Animal planet message board to see if there was any insight -- or wait until next Friday.

The interesting part in narration was the cobra was famous for hunting down pups.

BTW - Flower died in March 2007. The UK Discovery channel is several months ahead on Meerkat Manor so there is considerable discussion to be found on the internet

The US site had an announcement on Flower's death almost as soon as it happened. But the UK site did not.

I think the pup Liz who we saw coming out of the burrow was from Flower's last litter so at least one pup made it. Don't know about the baby sitters or the other pups though. Incidentally, Liz is named after Elizabeth Taylor a big fan of the show.

8. Another SPOILER
In the next to last episode, Mozart dies. And Kinkajou and De La Soul die in an earlier episode. So The Starsky are no more.
