Freecycle
Has anyone else's local freecycle list turned into a long list of WANTEDs? I just checked and out of 30 posts, only 6 were OFFERs. I can't believe some of the things people ask for too. Laptops and Cell Phones being two that really aggravate me. It used to be a decent list where people were actually trying to keep things out of the landfill. Now it seems like a bunch of freeloaders instead of freecyclers.

Eh. Maybe I'm being too picky.

1. My local freecycle list only allows "wanteds" to be posted on Wednesdays
I think each list is moderated differently.

3. That's a good idea
I wish something like that would be put into effect here.

2. Do you think anyone would want my B&W darkroom?
Obviously, it does not include the room itself, just all the stuff. With digital, it seems like darkrooms have become obsolete. I don't know if anyone still uses them.

4. That sounds like a good thing to offer
Just the kind of thing I think freecycle was created to accomplish. Find your local list and make an offer!

5. If you do not want to maintain it, try posting on your freecycle or craigslist
Believe me, someone out there will want it.

7. It's been discussed here before
Seems to be universal. I've given away things, and tipped people off when the local nursing home was throwing wheelchairs away, but never asked for anything for myself.

When I posted requests for people in my casload (I am a social services caseworker) I've gotten ugly responses from people accusing me of using deceit to get stuff for myself.

People suck sometimes, but it's still a good service overall.

8. My list must be an anomaly
The offers *always* outnumber the wanteds.
