On the mend but, YOW, burns hurt...
Especially changing the bandages three or four times a day. And I never realized how much the lower arm comes into play in daily life until now. I can't cross my arms which I apparently do about seven thousand times a day.

This is probably the most painful thing I've ever experienced and I've had brain surgery. My heart goes out to those horrific burn victims who experience 3rd degree burns over 80% of their bodies like you read about. I can't begin to imagine the pain they must go through.

3. I tripped and fell onto a hot barbecue grill last Thursday
Second degree burns on both arms. They're pretty painful but getting better. It could've been worse.

4. Well, my skull was pretty sore after they sawed through it and put it back together
And the incision was pretty tender. But not as bad as these burns.

5. Did they just use a local for the incision? Were you conscious for the surgery? nt.

8. No, the operation took 11.5 hours
And I was out for over 13. The tumor was very deep in my head.

7. Agreed....
I'd rather be sliced and diced with rusty sheet metal than burned.

10. Burns are, hands down, the worst physical trauma.
Richard Pryor's description of the treatment for his burns is gruesome and hilarious at the same time.

Are you on antibiotics and pain killers, 1gobluedem?

11. Nope, no infection so no antibiotics needed
And the doctor advised against painkillers; I'm allergic to most of them anyway.

When they're wrapped it doesn't hurt too much unless I put pressure on them. It's changing the darn bandages and applying the aloe that makes them sting to holy hell. And soaking off the bandages.

13. Well, good about the infection.
That just jacks the nasty quota by a factor. Yeah, it's the bandages. So, any surgery predicted for the scar tissue or is that a wait and see?

Hope not anyway. I don't have time for it!

14. Scalds: HUGE, monstrously painful.
Most of my chest and stomach were scalded once. Burn is always amplified by the hot wet fabric the water/liquid is spilled on.

Makes me squeamish just thinking about it.
