Why am I DUing when I need to study Genus names for trees?

Why am I DUing when I need to study Genus names for trees?
I have to memorize 25 different Genus names for plants every week for my Master Gardener class...Class is today in 3 hours and I haven't even started because I'm being a lounge lizard..aaacckk!!

Did you know the genus name for the Sweet Gum Tree is liquidambar? that is one of my favorites so far...

1. All you have to know is
The two most beautiful trees in the US are sequoiadendron sempervirens and quercus agrifolia. Yeah!

4. i'm no expert on regular trees
but i'll talk binomial nomenclature with you on tropical plants. in my yard in austin, tx i have a botanical collection. some of the species i have include:

washingtonia filifera
trachecarpus fortuneii
livistona chinensis
other assorted palm trees

aristolochia littoralis
aristolochia fimbriata
asclepias currasavica

cassia corymbosa
cassia alata

passiflora foetidae
passiflora incense
passiflora incarnata

too many salvias to list and all sorts of other interesting sub tropicals

5. I am partial to Quercus.
Though many beautiful Acers abound. I like the red palmatums.

Ooh! There is also a gorgeous Salix down the street from my house!
