11. I had a black out here for about an hour.

And, it's silly because I have a deadbolt and a candle and a big dog. But it was upsetting not having Doug here. He never really was a buffer but I always felt he was.

When the lights came back on, I leashed the puppy and went up the street to get a bottle of wine, more candles and milk for the morning. All my neighbors were out talking about the black out and that was nice in a way.

Maybe I need bigger candles. I always was jealous of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her self sufficient family.

Hope you stay dry.

13. ah sweetie

that big ol dog will protect you and yes, you do need more candles

I have two old fashioned oil lanterns we keep around for the power outages (they happen here with depressing regularity) and they will light the whole room. get yourself a couple, they are decorative and be sure to keep a box of matches next to them

:hi:

15. glad you made it okay
it's scary enough driving in those conditions but after dark when you can't see the standing water is really scary.

16. thanks dear! but seeing the water was no problem, the scary part is that it was
RUNNING water. our town's idea of drainage is tilt all the streets toward the river so the E/W streets are basically big storm drains that run with anywhere from 2" to 2' deep

my old Buick was a trooper but I could feel it try to slide with the water a couple times. stupid I know but I was committed by the time I realized how deep it was and how fast it was running

I actually ended up parking it once on a high bit to just breathe and get my heartrate down a bit

:scared:
