My wife just lost her job
The whole foundation - shutting its doors. Oh well, at least she gets a 6 month package when they shut their doors at the end of the year. That gives her ample lead time to find a job. Try finding a job in Curriculum and Educational Content Development though.

1. I'm sorry to hear about that Taverner.
She should look into that type of work with large corporations. My company has an educational and employee development program, she might be a good fit for that type of job. Judging from the crap they teach us in our mandatory training classes we NEED someone like your wife to develop the content some more!

But she's childhood education. She works for a kids site now, so the field is limited...

9. Hey, most of my co-workers are childish.
She might be more effective than the ones that "think" they are teaching adults.

and to you. And, at least she gets 9 months to find a job, which is better than many.

5. Has she considered the publishing industry?
Textbook publishers are scrambling to develop "proven" content because of NCLB, and many publishers are freelancing work that used to be done in-house. Good luck. Best wishes.

6. I hope the advanced notice and the package are enough
to cover you until she can find something better.

7. That just sucks, Taverner.
Good thoughts going out to both of you. At least she has a severance package, that should help. :grouphug:
