Isn't it backwards that you have to get on a list when you DON'T want solicitation calls made to your personal phone number?

How many people do you suppose would sign up for a "Please Call Me" list?

:nuke:

2. We already have the "if I want to buy from you I'll call" book.
Here in the land of the sane we call it the yellow pages (or it's modern equivalent, The Google.) If I want siding or a new long distance plan or whatever I'll look in there, so there's really no need to waste time or the business' in calling me.

3. It's pretty bad when the Sierra Club hires a telemarketer....
...that calls their members three times a day. Obviously it wasn't a fellow member and it was to get on some type of monthly donation subscription. I told the guy "Look, I'm a member and I donate what I can when I can" and to "please quit calling me everyday". His reply was, "well if you want to stop these annoying calls then just sign up", my reply was "No, I just won't renew my membership!"

The calls finally stopped.

4. I think that whole marketing schtick
of not just selling your product, but "having a relationship with the customer" has got to go. I don't want a "relationship" with people who sell me things. Either I'm interested or I'm not. I either buy it or I don't. That includes causes I support, too. I resigned from the Amer. Assoc of University Women simply because they were sending me too much junk mail to deal with (in my ex-married name, no less!).

I don't need to be contacted several times a day or week when I'm not interacting with said company/organization. It's a complete turn off.

Curmudgeonly yours,

Supernova

5. Plus I like to spread what little I have around
It's not good to support only one cause when so many others are in need but everyone from the Humane Society to the Red Cross wants it all for themselves.

6. That's another thing
when did these organizations start getting greedy? When did they start thinking and acting as if they were entitled to all of your charity dollars?

7. They know damned well that nobody would sign up for that list
except maybe a few very lonely people who have no money anyway.

9. An Opt-In system would be perfect!
Our current Opt-Out system being as problematic and ineffective as it is.

10. It's the only idea that makes sense. It should be illegal to call people to sell stuff.
Unless they ask to be called.
