Sad news for fantasy lovers
The Dragon is dead.

Robert Jordan (whose real name is James Oliver Rigney, Jr.) died yesterday of complications from primary amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy (cardiac amyloidosis). He was 59 years old.

Although he left this world without finishing the last novel in his epic Wheel of Time series, A Memory of Light, his blog said that he shared the important plot details with his family before he died. So perhaps someday we'll hear the end of the story, and see his life's work fulfilled.

I'm a bit broken up. I know a lot of people disliked Jordan, but I loved his books, and it's difficult for me to know that the creative mind behind all of the characters, places, and events that I've come to love is just...gone. My heart goes out to his family. May he rest in peace.
