1. Yep.
The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger loves to watch nature documentaries, but we had to turn off the TV one night when we were watching a documentary about feral cats in Berlin. Their yowling was just freakin' him out. No joke.

3. Yes. My cats like birds so I bought them a DVD.
Kid likes other dogs, especially if they are running or barking. :)

'help" with Nintendo by sitting on top of the tv and smacking anything that moved on the screen.

watching college basketball on TV last season - a moment in the game where the ball was being passed alot - cat jumped at TV and tried to block a shot..

another time - was watching a show about greyhounds, there was a scene where a pack of greyhounds were running across the countryside - our two greyhounds watched it, tails wagging and gave out a couple of woofs

10. Some of them.
I've got one cat who'll track motion on the screen, and bat at it. Howling of wolves on the tube will upset one of my dogs. Once upon a time, I was watching a documentary on cheetahs, and as two of them fought, the cat in my lap sat up and took notice, then ran into another room to attack another cat. Funny.

11. One of my cats...
One of my cats follows any rapid movement on TV. If there are birds on it, she'll go around the TV to see if they're in the back. Then she looks at me as if to say "What gives"?

When she gets a new toy she works and works until the squeaker is dead. She will then try to get her sister's toy because it still squeaks.

13. Oh yeah, when ever there are dogs barking on TV our
wiener dog cocks her head from side to side trying to listen. It's great to watch...... and she also watches birds fly over our car when we're driving, I know that isn't included in this TV question, but it's funny to watch her watch the bird fly out of sight, she's so smart. :)

We've got pictures of two of my cats watching the "Cat Sitter" DVD, and the smallest one often just jumps into the TV cabinet and stands right in front of the TV watching whatever is on.

18. Daughter's Norfolk terrier absolutely adores t.v., particularly when an anmimal is on
When the family settles down to watch television, he's right there, head on paws watching. When an animal appears he does his best to get into the television set, unfortunately (for him) is too short to do anything more than jump and shriek. We had a dog who was mildly interested but when she looked in the back and saw nothing would lose interest. Also had a cat who watched all of a program - can't remember the name of it - about early man discovering fire. Our current two dogs ignore the t.v. unless a doorbell rings and then they get hysterical, sure someone has rung out doorbell.

19. My greyhounds love to watch tv
and once in a while when they see an animal running they really perk up. My female grey once jumped off the couch and stood in front of the tv watching the screen very intently because a prairie dog was running across it. She has also reacted to the sounds of puppies and wolf cubs whining - she gets a bit aggitated and looks around like she is trying to find the little guys. We've had her since she was 20 months old and we know that she never had a litter herself, but she raised our youngest whippet puppy and my stepdaughter Belgian Turveran puppy as well and would have made a fantastic mother.

21. When 90 Pound Hound was not quite a year old...
I was watching a documentary about wolves while puttering around with domestic chores. He came inside, all full of frisky biscuits, trotted into the living room to give a toy what-for and noticed a wolf on tv. He cocked his big head and wagged his tail. Assumed the 'let's play' position: Front legs down, butt up, tail making a stiff breeze, doggie grin on face.

The wolf ran out of camera view. 90 Pound Hound swung his big head around and back, scanning the room quickly to see where his would-be playmate had gone... He then began hunting around the room in earnest. Four minutes of this 'where'd he go?' routine!

Almost peed my bunny suit. He's normally pretty bright.

He is older now, but still pays attention to the TV if there is a child crying on a show. He ALWAYS springs to attend any distressed child.

it was the funniest thing EVER when the cats started trying to get birds and mice on tv!! Then it was sad when they got over it but it's been years now so I need to get it back out maybe.
I assume they're just seeing a big machine there but then a bird will come on and they'll start paying attention. My smallest cat goes up and starts touching the screen sometimes, it's way too cute.

The ending is sort of violent, and she was... not quite freaked out, but watching it very raptly in a very worried way.

I felt bad afterwards that she had to see something that made her upset. :(

31. I remember some 20-odd years ago
We had a Siamese cat who was captivated by these barking dogs on the TV (it was probably a 15-inch screen). When the dogs started running away, she CHASED them by looking for them behind the TV. It was one of the three or four funniest things I have ever seen. :D

38. many years back, our cat took a swipe at a video-game airplane
as it was going across the screen. It was way back in the days of the old Mattel Intellivision and I think it was a game with World War 1 style bi-planes.

The cat used to sit on top of our TV because it was warm, and then one day she reached down to swipe at one of the bi-planes as it went underneath her paw.
