14. Here you go
Dear MoveOn Texan,

If you'd like to make a strong statement against Tom DeLay's
redistricting plan, please join hundreds of other folks at a rally at
the Capitol this Saturday. The rally will celebrate the Texas 11 and
the Killer Ds -- legislators who are standing up to DeLay's power
grab. I hope you can make it. The details are below.

Sincerely,
--Eli Pariser

TEXAS ANTI-REDISTRICTING "UNITY IS OUR STRENGTH" RALLY

U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay knows that our unity is his
weakness. In order to further his extremist Washington agenda he is
relentlessly pushing a plan to divide Texas congressional districts.

Come Together for the Statewide Anti-Redistricting Rally: From across
the state, Texans are uniting on Saturday, August 9 on the south side
of Capitol in Austin to say "Enough is Enough." Enough to special
interests. Enough to special sessions.

WHERE AND WHEN: The rally begins at 11:30 a.m., and if you can make
it earlier, others will begin meeting at nearby Waterloo Park at 10
a.m. to march to the Capitol.

TRANSPORTATION: If you live outside of Austin and need transportation
to the rally, then call 512-480-8999.

Be a part of history: We are honoring the courage of the Texas 11
and Killer Ds, the Texas legislators taking a stand against this power
grab. Great Texas music and special guests will be announced later.
Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to the biggest
anti-redistricting event yet.

10. Let's see...how about breakfast at Kerbey Lane on Guadalupe?
For the locals anyway...

I don't have a clue how we'd find the out-of-towners, unless we put DU stickers on signage.

11. mmm...Kerbey Lane...
Sounds good to me. It's on the bus route - hooray!

Signs with DU stickers or something like that might be a really good idea for finding people - at breakfast, at the pre-rally thing, and at the rally itself.

Does anyone know if there are any local Dems getting together to do signs for this thing? (We had some great signs at the public hearing in Dallas that the local Dems put together.) If anyone knows of anything like that going on let me know 'cause I'm more than willing to help.

15. I'll be putting my daughter on the plane earlier to go home to Ca. but I
will definitely be at the rally and will look for my DU buddys. I have some smiley stickers from my grandson's sticker book. Maybe I'll make a adhesive sign with those.

I have some DU stickers I can put on signs. I have some other anti-Shrub and anti-Repuke stickers, too...

Oh, I think I should wear my "Killer D's" t-shirt! :bounce:

In the lot by the BB history museum, perhaps?

18. if you aren't going to the pre-rally...
but just to the rally itself there are parking garages on San Jacinto across the street from the State Library. (It's a little far from the pre-rally but close to the Capitol itself.) I think parking there is free on the weekend. For those of you who haven't been there before, it's one block east of the capitol (toward I-35).

Another option I highly endorse is parking at a park and ride and taking the bus downtown. The #1 runs down there or you can check out the bus schedule at:

19. What time do you think folks will leave Waterloo to go to the rally?
I'll be at the airport until about 9:30 so I might be able to meet up there. I dread parking around the capitol because this rally is going to be BIG!

20. There are any number of parking lots around 6th St.
You might have to pay, but it could be worth it. I like the Littlefield Garage, which I think is at 6th and San Jacinto.

Otherwise, parking by the Bullock museum or anywhere along MLK is the way to go.
