What movie do you wish you had NEVER seen?
For me, it was "Terms of Endearment."

I hated that movie. I didn't like Debra what's-her-face's character. So I felt no sympathy for her when she got cancer and died. All she did was whine the whole movie. No wonder her husband cheated on her.

Plus I don't like Shirley MacLaine.

Not the one from the sixties with Fonda. This is a gay-themed movie that was getting inexplicable rave reviews after showing at gay and lesbian film festivals around the country. Utter garbage. A giant leap backwards in gay filmmaking.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Saw it when I was in college, and thought it was one of the most unpleasant, poorly-acted, solipsistic two and 1/2 hours I've ever spent. Don't know why such an ugly, mean-spirited movie is held in such high regard....

23. This Was My Pick
"Tango" came out to much hype when there was no chance of my seeing it at my tender age. I HAD to see it. I subsequently forgot about it until VCRs came out. That was my big chance, I was going to see the movie that invented sex. BOOOOORRRRRIIINNNGGGG. Marlon Brando sulking in French for what seemed like about 5 hours. It was TERRIBLE. Not at all sexy, especially since I kept falling asleep and having to rewind just to get through it. Talk about overrated.

Saw it in high school and ever since I've been afraid to use public restrooms. There is a scene where she gets grabbed and dragged out of the bathroom under the door in a movie theatre bathroom. Whenever I use a public restroom, I look in all the stalls first to make sure noone is hiding in them. Besides it was a pretty bad movie.

Yes, I admit it. I paid $1 to see this piece of shit, and I was STILL gypped!

The main actor, Eric somebody, is BUTT UGLY and we're supposed to believe that he could date/do someone like Elle MacPherson. Right. And I have a male appendage.

Plus he was irritiating, Sarah Jessica Parker was irritating, Elle MacPherson was irritating. All I wanted at the time was some lightweight romantic fluff. Instead, I walked out. One of 2 movies in my entire life I've ever walked out of.

Gaaaaaaahhhh.

Don't remember people wrong. As my wife slowly looses her fight with cancer, I try hard to keep that in mind. Don't remember her as she has been the last 14 months, but how she was the preceding 14 years.

Its a good message, Even if it could have been delivered in 10 minutes.

27. Two from Pacino... "Scent of a Woman" & "Devil's Advocate"
The acting in both was painfully hammy, yet praised to the skies for some reason. The scripts were both godawful, the nod going to "Advocate" for its thesis that defending accused criminals, rather than following the "They wouldn't be accused if they weren't guilty" line, literally constitutes serving the devil.

I know everyone thinks both of these are genius. They both simply left me feeling horrendously depressed. I want my time back.

And I know everyone else in creation liked Pirates of the Caribbean. While I love Johnny Depp to distraction, the movie itself is just DUMB. I didn't think it was all that much better than that Geena Davis abomination, Cutthroat Island, just more expensive-looking. I thought it was predictable, boring, and just silly.

along with anything else that twisted misogynist Von Trier produces. His story is that BTW is about "goodness" CRAP it was about being a servile missus and if you put yourself through shit (prostitution and getting beaten to death by sailors) you'll be redeemed - when the fucking bell chimed at the end I wanted to :puke:

apart from the crappy hand held nasea inducing camera work - since when is it "artificial" to be given a steady picture - don't know about anyone else but when I see things in real life they DONT jump around like that unless I happen to be on a boat - there was nothing or merit in the whole thing, violent mysogyny and suffering women for no other point to but to show them suffering, had the EXACT same film been made by Jerry Bruckheimer it would have been howled down for the steaming pile that it was

And by the look of Dogville - more of the same

Dancer in the Dark

One of the most hopeless, depressing stories I've ever sat through. (I mean, how many times do you have to be told that life is horrible and that everything always works out for the absolute worst?) Plus, the handheld camerawork made Blair Witch look like a Best Cinematography candidate, Bjork's "music" was unlistenable, and her acting even worse.

71. English Patient here...
...because the whole trying-to-get-back-to-the-cave-in-the-time thing made me feel... sick. Disturbed me more than Schindler's List, or the first scene of Saving Private Ryan.

I suppose there's some deep psychological meaning in that, but I don't think I want to know what it is.

Plenty more, unfortunately, but "The English Patient" rules them all. Yecch.

116. With you on the English Patient - didn't give a damn about the characters.
Live or die, I didn't find them appealing in any way. In fact, I thought they were rather self-absorbed and self-indulgent.

Blech.

52. Blair Witch II
I went with a friend (paid FULL price) who loved BW I. Again 90 minutes of my life I will never recover.

As we were leaving the theater she turned to me and said, "The next time I way lets go see anything with the words Blair Witch in it, flog me."

The absolute worse movie I have ever seen (and I saw Highlander II and thought is sucked big time.)

53. I am stunned no one mentioned what has got to be the worst
movie of all time. Armageddon. Oh my god what an unbelievable piece of utter cinematic horseshit. I actually lost IQ points watching it and am ashamed of myself for not getting up and leaving. I was honestly hoping they would fail in saving the planet because any planet that could create that piece of dung doesnt deserve saving.

80. "Armageddon" is a perfect example of what's wrong with big budget movies
Special effects....and nothing more. Cardboard, one dimensional characters...an idiotic story line...and some of the most ridiculous dialogue heard in a long time. This piece of dung is one reason I avoid Michael Bay's (the director) movies entirely. Stupid, boring twaddle.

I lost IQ points watching this pointless dreck, also. The absolute lowest point of this...Ben Affleck singing "I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane" to Liv Tyler. Oh, dear God, that was painful.

105. Armageddon taught me
to automatically avoid any movies directed by Michael Bay.

This one made me horribly nauseous trying to keep up with the really fast camera angles. Half the time you couldn't tell what was happening to whom because everything was so quick! What was the point?

I HATED Armageddon.

54. Brigadoon
Why the hell this was a class assignment I have no idea...but in junior high I was subjected to this mess and had to sit through it with a teacher glaring at me.

Among other things, it's a remote village that has been cursed to only appear one day once every hundred years...so life goes on as it did in the 1700s...two fucking days ago....How the hell would they even know they'd been cut off after two days?.

Sometimes I fear I've fallen asleep and am dreaming this life, and somebody's going to nudge me and I'll wake up and they're still going to be doing the "Go home to Bonnie Jean" musical number...

89. I agree 100%
The movie is WORTHLESS. It's about stupid kids that don't know how to camp, and get freaked out by people shaking their tents and putting up stick-people in trees.

They can't read a map, or use a compass, and they can't seem to figure out that almost all of Maryland is settled enough that they just CAN'T get lost in the woods, it's IMPOSSIBLE.

And then they (aparently) die in a house.

I felt so jipped because 1) it wasn't scary AT ALL 2) the ending was totally anti-climatic and 3) the camera work (ok I know it was meant to be home movie-ish) was nausiating.

at least i did not pay to see it in a theater.

Keanu Reeves as an undercover FBI guy ... or some other L.E. agency....all the emotion he is capable of generating..."I...am gonna take you...DOWN!"

a masterpiece of badness. A badness of a quality rarely seen in cinema.

I had dreams about that little girl/images from the video for a couple of nights after watching it. I know that that makes for a good horror movie, but it takes a lot for a movie to scare me. The last one that did is "The Shining", and that was only because I was 16 and with my boyfriend, so I wanted to be scared.

107. Second.
The love triangle was so completely stupid and pointless. At most, it should have been a subplot, but no... it was the whole friggin' movie. The bombing was the subplot, which is why the movie sucked so bad.

The bombing sequence itself was good. If only it wasn't wasted on a Titanic-inspired screenplay.

114. Ah, yes..."Terms of Endurance"...
...as I called it at the time, since I barely forced myself to sit through the whole thing. The thing is that the mother and daughter really reminded me of an ex-girlfriend from several years back and her mother, and I found myself grinding my teeth at the way these two self-centered, "you and me against the world" whiners were presented as so sympathetic.

Now, I've seen a lot of films, and have many titles that would qualify for "something I wish I'd never seen," so I'm not singling this one out. However, I always thought it was, indeed, a tragedy...because only one of the two principals died at the end. For me, if that film had had a happy ending, they both would have kicked the bucket...and their little sex-monkey (Jack Nicholson), too!
