I Thought Dean and Graham Were Great on "Larry King Live"
While I didn't think Dean's performance on "MTP" was a disaster, it also wasn't great. I thought he was much better tonight. He was firm, but overly caustic. He seemed to focus more on his vision than bashing the president. And Graham reaffirmed a lot of Dean's points while showing that he's knowledgeable. Does anyone else agree with me?

3. Graham is one of many candidates
He sounds very knowledgeable. If only that asshole Larry Kudlow didn't cut him off last week on "Kudlow & Cramer"

5. Graham is indeed ready to be President
And would be the better president, in my opinion. (Though of course I will vote for Dean if he is the nominee.)

I'm sure Dean would like to have the advantage of Graham's experience in Washington, but frankly that experience stands on its own. Graham has more than enough in his favor to defeat Bush and put this country back on course.

6. Very interesting
Do you think that the two are planning a Dean-Graham team?

I think that team would win some of the rural voters.

I also think that the much-married Larry King might be more comfortable with moderate Democrats that radical right wingers like Bush and Cheney.

8. LOL
Hmm, region is important, specifically South...needs Washington experience who knows some of the people a President needs to work with...able to be a President in own right...yeah I'd say so :)

I think the Dems running have more in common than many seem to believe. And I think the Graham/Dean governor connection and focus on federal/states rights and anger toward unfundated mandates for states plus the anti War with Iraq stance, and a concern for rural voters, definitely Graham & Dean share some basic fundamental values. And balanced budgets are extremely important for both, Graham balanced all eight budgets of his as Governor, and Dean loves balancing budgets, too, so they are common linkages for sure!

12. I was thinking that too
I thought Dean did very well. He layed out VP criteria that Graham fits perfectly (moreso than Edwards IMO).

14. I happen to think that Dean would be a good running mate for Graham
too if Bob got the nomination. I think the two would be a great team. Dean is in your face while Bob is more methodical yet just as effective. I think particularly on Iraq they could make an effective case against Bush and company.

2. Totally.

Larry King was the one who was "flat" as can be. I have watched LK a long time and he was devoid of any emotion. Obviously, he really didn't want to interview Dean.

Dean was serious and direct, but I like that. There are serious issues out there. Notice how he did not give the 'ol "pol" answer to Colin Powell retiring. Any other pol would have said the 'ol "people come and go, blah, blah." Dean expressed exactly why he thinks Colin Powell is leaving. I liked that.

Bob Graham was good too.

Referring to MTP, notice how one of the callers said he liked Dean AFTER seeing him on MTP. Take that Tim Russert!

Dean wasn't caustic as all - he's a serious person and at the appropriate time, he does "lighten up."

edit: usual stuff

4. I don't think that's true
Edited on Mon Aug-04-03 09:20 PM by Composed Thinker
You've probably been watching too many shows like "Scarborough Country" or "The O'Reilly Factor," where the host yells to keep things entertaining. Whenever I've seen King, he's always been sort of quiet.

10. Not true.

I have been watching LK for years and yes he is usually the quiet sort, but he didn inject things like "Wow, you are hot!." That's how LK would normally greet someone like Dean.

Or, gee Gov. Dean, you were the first candidate that started "meetups" and how did that start?" That's how LK usually interviews. Instead LK was asking stupid questions like, "What do they call you Governor or Doctor?" :wtf: Who cares!

You just wait until LK interviews one of the other candidates one-on-one; it will be quite different, I assure you.

BTW, I do not watch scum shows like Scarborough Country or Bill O'Reilly or ANYTHING on Faux.

7. Thanks Caledisi for your take on Dean on the LK show.
I guess GD is down for awhile now! Oh well, it will be back!

:D

I think Larry is just old and probably not feeling up to it!

9. I am no fan of King
but I think the remote interview is always more stilted than in studio interviews. It's hard to get very animated when you are only talking to a tv camera

15. Graham did do well...
but it bothered me that he danced around the Harken/AWOL question (though he did use current events that bring into question *'s integrity). And of course that witch Kay Bailey completely ignored the similarities to Whitewater, saying that those issues were from "a past campaign". What BS.

Also, did she slip up when she said "the capture and murder" of Uday and Qusay? Hmmmm...

16. It was wonderful!
The Meet the Press just made me very angry at Tim Russert! I liked that the caller said that she got interested in HD after the MTP interview! He looked great. I was proud.

20. Did my heart good to see Graham's kind face, yet pointed remarks.
IMHO, this candidate has it ALL to be one of the greatest leaders in our history.... experience, diplomacy, deep knowledge of foreign policy, and a genuine dedication to the well-being of people and their families. He's already unveiled specifics he will implement to restore our economy and is starting the dialogue everywhere he goes.

When stellar qualifications like these are combined with approachability and unfailing kindness, it is no uncertainty for me whom to support for restoring our faith in our country and in ourselves.

He has done it for Florida since 1966. He can do it for America.

Behind you all the way, Senator!

:toast:

22. Good appearance
He was smiling whenever Larry acknowledged him, just a good all around guy who I think would really connect with voters. Very optimistic, his kickoff speech in May must've mentioned the "promise of America" 66 times and he said in that speech how he's an optimist, and his campaign message focuses on leaving a good America for future generations...his economic plan is called "CanDo Economics" so he's just a very down to the earth candidate who is serious but comes across as very friendly
