I took ShineBoy along with me, thinking he'd be interested to see local government in action.
The good news is, when they FINALLY got around to discussing the topic we'd all shown up about, the council decided to go with a different location for the high-density, low-income housing units they were wanting to put up right next to our neighborhood. :woohoo: They would have heavily impacted our local traffic and the middle school, down the street. We were all pretty happy about the outcome, but all these people had shown up to protest the plans and speak out and it wasn't even necessary, in the end.
The meeting was still going on when we left. As we're walking back to the car, I was encouraging ShineBoy to tell his history or english teachers tomorrow what he had done, thinking that they would probably be interested.
He was mostly just bored and when we got home, made up this elaborate story for the rest of the family about how everybody was yelling and screaming and the mayor pulled out a gun and there was blood on the floor. HIS version was much more dramatic and violent.
Teenagers.... :eyes:
