And Californians wonder why the rest of the country thinks
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 09:23 PM by TyroneStryker
they are out of their minds.

http://www.nbc11.com/news/2795125/detail.html

Talk about a waste of taxpayer dollars. Only in California. Commentary: Every now and then, a story like this comes out of California...something so absurd. Like when Gary Coleman, a porn star, and 100 others ran for Governor. What is up with that State? It is ludicrous, at times. Other times, perfectly wonderful things like CARB come out of California. What gives.

edited to add commentary.

1. Pseudo-science GARBAGE
The Right has theirs, we have ours. At least ours isn't belligerent and hateful, only stupid.

8. That's the lamest justification for idiocy I've ever heard.
And belief in things like feng shui and astrology is just as destructive of reason and just as ignorant and just as STUPID as belief in creationism. Sorry.

9. Not justification. More like "Stalin was less evil than Hitler".

Would you want your energy all clogged up? This stuff has been around for centuries. Try to expand your horizons.

3. No wonder the Art world center moved from Paris, then NYC to Ca.
Can you think of a better place to have artist? I knew I would fit into Ca. after a few visits but my father would not let me go to college there. What a wild state. I missed my calling for sure.

4. Why not go whole hog and demand all furniture be Louis XVI
and all gov. building cafeterias serve only Incan foods?

Geez, what a dumb idea.

6. "What clutter can be is stuck energy in places where energy isn't moving."

HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!

Or, as Bruce Willis so eloquently put it in the first "Die Hard" film: "Jesus Christ. Fuckin' California!"

California will always do its own thing and will never care what the rest of the country thinks about it. Because deep down, we know that you hate us cause you ain't us. ;-)

BTW, it was a sunny 67 degrees today in San Diego while you were busy shoveling the snow from your driveway. hee hee

12. Laugh all you want...
but I've seen the power of proper placement. It can make the difference between a room that is uncomfortable and one that is instantly easy to be in. Much of it is really just intuitive; it's not much different than good interior design.

The Donald never has a building built without examining the relationship between the structure and the space. If fact, the use of the "power position" of a desk in executives' offices that is popular is straight out of feng shui.

I think it can be a very powerful tool for the betterment of a space.

13. Oh yeah like the baskets weaved across the Arizona Hwy 51 are any better
or the overpass that is moulded to match the mountains in the backgroud? The sick thing is, there is NO WAY that a state with a population of approximately 4 million renegade tax resisters could have paid for this without federal funds from

14. ten to one the guy has a donor
who is really into it... he offers a resolution (not a bill)... makes the donor (or friend) happy. Happens all the time - stupid stuff is put up (knowing it will die) for symbolic reasons. They don't seem to mind the costs (committee time, etc.) for such things.

One day I had to spend an afternoon in our state's House chamber - waiting for second and third reading of bills onto the floor. Hours and hours - of some of the silliest stuff (let's spend money on stickers for all gas pumps in the state, with the picture of the supt of the state police, reminding folks that leaving without paying for the gas (known as "gas and dash") was a crime... and they raised the penalty... when a legislator pointed out it was already a crime (theft)... and asked why this crime would have a much stiffer penalty than stealing the same dollar amount of any other item... the question was shrugged off... and yes, now these stickers are seen all over the state on gas tanks). Want to be disturbed - go spend a couple of days watching your state legislature in practice.
