4. You are not a loser ...
but don't lose out on life by calling yourself a loser. I know that this thread will be locked for what I am about to say but if I were you,I would talk to a counselor ASAP.I have remembered your posts from the past years and I know of what you speak and I don't think you should continue calling yourself a loser. Embrace life, call a counselor and get yourself some help. You will look back on it and be thankful that you did.

Have a great day/night wherever you are elshiva. Please take care of yourself.

6. CarolinaPeridot, thank you for your advice.
It's been difficult. I don't have a therapist now because I lost the insurance. Hopefully, I will get a good therapist soon, but I don't know when.

7. If you have a job find out if they have a Employee Assistance Program.
I am sure there are free counselors in your area who will help.

8. Thank you. I do have a job, but it is only a substitute position.
Thank God for this job. It's only $6.75 an hour. It's hard to get a job when you have mental illnesses and are fat and ugly.

9. Life is not always about how you look but you feel for yourself on the inside.
I wish you a good night.

11. Hey.

Self-perception is such a funny thing, eh?

You refer to yourself as "fat and ugly," but some of my heroes may have also thought that of themselves at one time: Michael Moore, Oprah and Pavarotti come to mind quickly. Intelligent, talented and good-hearted people, all of them, they serve as an inspiration to and are beloved by millions all over the globe. God, but the world would be a much more dismal place without their light shining forth.

And then there are the thin and "beautiful" people who are truly ugly in thought, word and deed. Ann Coulter is a prime example.

There are anorexics who sincerely believe they are "fat" up to and including the day they die of starvation, while in other parts of the world, and even back in the day right here in the U.S., added weight is cherished and considered most beautiful: (here's a good link regarding cultural perceptions of weight) http://www.tolerance.org/teach/activities/activity.jsp?p=0&ar=825&pa=3

And the resource page for that article is fantastic: http://www.tolerance.org/teach/activities/activity.jsp?p=0&ar=825&pa=5

I think that ugly isn't ever about what you are on the outside, but how you feel on the inside. Eleanor Roosevelt said, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." And of course that is true.

Another powerful affirmation of self-worth is my favorite line from "The Color Purple," spoken defiantly by the lead character Celie as she commits to live her life to the fullest despite those who would try to hold her back: "I'm poor, I'm black, I may even be ugly, but dear God I'm here, I'm here!"

Here's an idea. The next time someone says something uncomplimentary to your face, you look them straight in the eye and say, "Who cares what YOU think?!?"

And you mean it.

10. You're not a loser.
You're just someone who needs to work on her self-worth a little. Or a lot. Continued best of luck with that, by the way.

12. Hi Elshiva, I'm not too far from you...
I know JFS offers counseling on a sliding scale. They look at your income and calculate what it would be. I think I was paying $5.00 a visit a few years ago. I am sure there are other places like that around here, too.

15. YOU'RE NOT A LOSER!!!
Elshiva, stop. You are not a loser, you are a survivor. Take selfish pride in the fact that you keep waking up day after day when many others have given up. You are stronger than you realize. Keep posting!
