Okay, Zappos.com has officially blown my mind.
I've been ordering from Zappos for years. I wear a women's 10.5 wide, which is pretty much impossible to find in stores unless the particular brand of shoe runs large and wide. Anyway, I've always been more than pleased with their customer service but this takes the cake.

I was looking for shoes to take on my trip to Italy. They needed to be comfortable, light, not too bulky and look okay with a skirt or pants. I found two pairs and ordered them, figuring I'd return the pair that didn't work (they have an amazing return policy). This was LATE Saturday night that I placed the order. Like, nearly midnight on Sunday. And yesterday was a federal holiday.

My shoes arrived this morning. Their distribution center is several states away based on their shipping label. I don't even know how that's possible unless they actually drove them here.

1. What brand do you buy from them?
Over the last couple of years, I have found myself needing a 10.5 vs. the 10, but have had little luck finding much. And 11s are just too big for me.

Have fun in Italy! When are you going?

3. I ordered two pair. From the reviews, I could tell that
this one ran small so I ordered the 11:

http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7323369/c/3.html

and this one ran big so I ordered the 10:

The Tsubos ended up being too wide even for my Fred Flintstone feet. So those are going back and I'm keeping the Ahnus. They are so comfortable. And I just tried them on with the skirt and pants I'm bringing on the trip and they look great. We're leaving in a month. We are spending one week in Florence and one week on a train trip around the south of France and into Spain. Thanks! I hope we have fun. I try to plan really well in advance so we can relax and enjoy when we get there.

5. To answer your question about ordering 10.5 shoes
I often order Softwalk or Softspots. They have all kinds of sizes and widths. I get sooooo many compliments on my red Softwalk Malibu sandals.

4. They have great customer service. And...they cheerfully pricematch any shoe they have.
Another good online shoe source is Endless.com.

Good sales and they pay YOU $5 to overnight ship the shoes.

6. Me and 6.5Ws Love Zappos, Too
Though sometimes I have to order a 7 because some makers don't make a 6.5W!

12. Yes but I essentially ordered on a Sunday and Monday was a federal holiday.
No FedEx on either of those days usually. But somehow it arrived first thing Tuesday.

10. That's awesome
and thanks for posting a link. My daughter wears 11's and we've been pretty much buying her shoes from the men's dept because it's near impossible to find anything in women's. She likes wearing Converse and Vans, etc. I have a hard time convincing her that they aren't appropriate for every occasion and it's not helped that we can't find dressy shoes. This site looks excellent and I'm definitely bookmarking it for further use for her! Thanks!

13. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Hands down the best customer service
of any online store I have ever used. If you have any problem at all they will cheerfully and quickly resolve it. They overnight ship orders for free and there's no tax. I've ordered at 3:00 p.m. on a Monday and had my order Tuesday morning. And if you don't like the shoes, you can return them for free. Meaning, they pay for the return shipping and give you a full refund. You just have to be careful not to wear the shoes, try them on and walk around on a carpeted surface. Of course, if the shoe is defective for whatever reason they will take it back even if you've worn it.

The customer reviews help a lot too, because you can get a sense if the shoe will run wide or small or whatever from what people say about it. So there's really no need to fear buying shoes online, they make it as pain-free as possible. And their selection is 20x bigger than any shoe store, so you certainly save time running from place to place.

I haven't ever ordered anything from them (I buy from a local running store) but friends of mine buy everything there.

14. Zappos is great and so is this thread
I've picked up a few more shoe links.

One of my favorite shoes are Stegmann boiled wool clogs. I have a high instep and can't usually wear clogs. But Steg's wool clogs work very well. And they're all nice and wide. The arch support is excellent, too. I even talked my husband into trying a pair. He had to work them in a little bit. But the wool is pliable and quickly molded to his foot around the instep. Now he slips them on instead of his loafers. I wear mine without socks in the summer and they wick away moisture perfectly.

The only thing about the cork sole is that it will come loose if worn walking on wet streets. It happened to one pair I took with me to Florida. So I glued it back with a hot glue gun and the pair is back in business.

Enjoy your trip to Italy - I'm green with envy!

15. Thanks! I hope we do.
My husband has never been there and I haven't been there since I was a teenager. We're actually flying in and out of Madrid (flights anywhere else were too expensive) which is necessitating the train trip. We decided to make it actually part of the trip itself by planning stops in the south of France on the way back. Plus we'll get a couple of days in both Madrid and Barcelona, places we went on our honeymoon and loved.

16. They are AWESOME! I've actually ordered shoes on a Sunday
afternoon, and had them delivered by Monday afternoon. Astonishing!
Like they have little delivery elves or something, stationed everywhere...
I don't know how they manage to do it, but they'll always get my business.:)

20. Eh, you get used to them.
I use both the non-platform five inch pumps, and the two inch platform six inch heels. The platforms are actually better for your feet because the foot is not at such an angle as the non-platform ones. I never had a big problem with the regular pumps either because it feels a lot like toe shoes, and I was trained in ballet from ages six to 15.
However, the platforms are hard on the ankles. Go fig.

21. I'll have to tell my sis and mom about them.
My mom wears an 8, but an 8 super narrow (is that AA or EE?) and has a bitch of a time finding shoes. And my sis wears an 11N-enough said.

25. Yeah, Zappos rocks but it *especially* rocks for people with odd feet.
Most of the time I can't find a single pair that fits me in a store unless I buy men's shoes. Which is fine when I need hiking shoes or gym shoes, but kinda sucks the rest of the time.

23. I love Zappos!
Their customer service is awesome! Last year I was looking for a pair of tall black boots with a 3" heel--they give all the measurements, including calf width, and show multiple views. I found a great pair that are super comfortable and really cute. They arrived in one day (free overnight shipping). I can't wait for boot weather again!
