That is just so wrong.

that same green too. And a white vinyl roof and white interior. I drove it around at college because I house sat for her when she travelled on business. Lovely ride.

25. i had a '75 monte carlo with the swivel bucket seats...
Edited on Thu Aug-30-07 01:31 PM by kmlewis
it was my first car and LOVED that thing. i drove it for 7 years (1984 - 1991) and then passed it to my brother. it started having problems with rust. i had body work done on it 3 time and it would start rusting in the same places. eventually had to sell it.

on edit: also mine had the good ole round headlights. and a 4 barrel carb. that thing could FLY!! and suck gas.

30. My first car
was a silver '77 ("The Flash"). Cool, but no swivel seats. :( Didn't even know that was an option. Boy, I could blow away anyone peeling out from a traffic light!

27. Cheesy interior plastic
Basically a reworked Impala, seems to have more than its share of familiar looking generic GM interior bits and pieces, doesn't handle all that well for what it presents itself as, questionable quality esp trim. You get more bells and whistles for your buck, but you also get what you pay for if that makes sense. Rented one a while back, didn't like it.

Do you go camping? Live in a harsh climate? Hobbies?

I don't know anything.

Safety? Everything has airbags today. Don't hit anything.

In three years it will be a rattling bucket of cheap plastic.

Not particularly safe
Not particularly fast
Not great looking
Bad gas mileage.

29. I bought one recently. It's a great car. I got a good price too.
Also, it's alot safer than a Monte Carlo. 5 star all around and side curtain airbags too!

19. Do YOU like it?
"Worth" is a funny word. I think that if YOU like the car, then that carries a good amount of weight. If you can get a good deal and you like the car, then that's a good amount of value as well.

What do I think? For the money, if I were looking to get a 2 door sedan, I'd get the Toyota Solara. Total cost of ownership and the expected reliability is much better, IMO.

My ex had a Monte Carlo (around 1997 or so) and she really liked hers. Seemed like a nice enough car.

26. Go for it. But wait for the '08s.
They are supposed to have a major redesign. I love the redesign of the new Malibu, it will be interesting to see what Chevy comes up with for the Monte Carlo.

28. Chevy's dropping the Monte
Edited on Thu Aug-30-07 03:52 PM by Fighting Irish
So next year, the Impala will be the closest you get. Basically same car, except for the extra doors, body and inside layout.

The new Camaro is coming out in a year or so, and the Impala will be completely redesigned around that time too. Whether they bring back the Monte is unknown.

32. I'm curious: What ever WAS the point of the Monte Carlo, anyway? HUGE car, but
NO room inside, not even saved by being high-performance...what's the point of a car like that? What's the appeal?

Sorry to be negative, but I never understood it.
