Unannounced extra pledge drives--ugh!
My local PBS station, supposedly one of the best in the country, promised a Great Performances segment on Rudolf Nureyev tonight. It was listed in the station's magazine, the weekly tv listings in the paper, and on the station's own website.

However, after the News Hour was over, a voice came on and said, "We are pre-empting our regular schedule to bring you the following special program: Back Care Basics, Yoga for the Rest of Us."

Yes, folks, it's an unannounced extra day of pledge drive thrown into the week at random.

The rest of the evening will be taken up by My Music: Country Pop and Suze Orman: Women and Money (which was already on what seems like every day last week).

They must have anticipated anger from dance fans, because their phone voice mail had a message saying that the Nureyev program had been rescheduled.

AAAARRRRGGGGGH!

I once knew someone who worked for Oregon Public Broadcasting, and he hated the way that the fundraising department had the final word on everything.

The fundraising departments at PBS stations must be run by idiots, because they consistently put on shows that their most loyal viewers are guaranteed not to watch. :banghead:
