I couldn't imagine getting raked over the media coals like that guy. I mean, just about every dude has a porn collection, but nobody ever needs to hear about their own on national tv!

3. Oh, shoot!
I remember they took all his Mom's Tupperware, then when they returned it, there was fingerprint dust all over. She was really upset and didn't know what to do...Tupperware ended up replacing it all. Did he ever even get an apology from the FBI?

RIP Richard Jewell

6. One of my dear friends once had the same attorney who got Jewell off
she died several years ago in a county jail cell in PA. :(

And now Jewell is dead as well. Is this attorney somehow cursed? :scared:

9. I always felt bad for the guy
We all know guys like Richard Jewell. Not very competent but have a Walter Mitty streak in them a mile wide. He maybe should not have been a police officer and that is why he got fired.

He gets a job at the Olympics because they need bodies. He sees something suspicious, follows his training and saves a bunch of lives.

This is it -- his moment of glory.

Then the f'n feds try to frame the guy and he gets trashed in the press.

When he got them back I really smiled. That was one for the underdog.

But where does he go from there?

He is just a few years older than me too. Maybe I need to eat better.

Sigh.

10. I remember him best from the political cartoon I saw about him...
it shows a big pile of ground meat, and someone from the media is handing him a little plaque with his name written on it... "Well, here's your good name back!"

13. Poor guy got stomped pretty bad
I lived about a mile from him when all that went on. It was a three-ring circus down there at his apartment complex. And then the awkward acknowledgement from the FBI and the media. I'd always known the FBI is peopled with lots of thugs and bullies, but it was one of the first times that I clearly perceived the media whores for what they really are. I can still hear my mother going on about what a disgusting man he was...followed later by her astonishment when he was cleared, and her outrage at how she had been duped by the teevee. The man was a hero, and he dies a hero. Godspeed, Mr. Jewell. You deserved better.

17. If you don't take care of your diabetes it happens
I'm not saying this was Jewel's situation but my dad was a diabetic and a very heavy drinker. He didn't learn from losing his eyesight and all the circulation problems in his feet.
