Do you sleep with a crampon?
Because if you do, I don't wanna share a bed with you.

5. Next time you get a leg cramp, just raise your leg and shake the hell out of it
Works for me

6. I usually get them in the calf
the other morning I got one in the hamstring.

I've learned that I can end them by simply raising my toes towards my knees, stretching the muscles and tendons in the back of the legs.

8. I've found that standing up helps enormously
(or at least sitting up on the edge of the bed). The blood drains into your leg, and it makes a hell of a difference.

10. Well yeah, if you can stand or are standing
the standard achilles, hamstring stretch leaning against a wall is wonderful.

But if you're in bed, the pain can be so intense that it's hard to move. So just use the anterior muscles to stretch out the posterior muscles. Trust me, it works.

11. Well, that's the point - sometimes it can be too painful to strech the muscles in that leg
it's the leg with the cramp that's painful. But you sit up, or stand using the other muscles in your body (the other leg, pushing yourself up with your arms) - and that gets the blood flow to the affected leg starting again. I used to do what you do, but I've found standing up much quicker and more effective. You can do the stretching once the pain has subsided.

9. Unfortunately, they're banned in the dormitories of Alpine huts
You have to leave them in the lobby. Shame, because they'd be excellent for 'persuading' the snorers to shut up.
