1. No, but I've been known to down a boot in my younger days.

However, drinking beer ceased to be a competitive sport for me many years ago. :)

I learned the open throat technique watching "The Benny Hill Show".

I also would have a little baking soda a few minutes before to cut down on the foam. The foam is what makes it come back up immediately.

9. What was the volume of the yard?

Ours was about 3 British pints (ie 60 fluid ounces) - 2 minutes would have placed you about last. I think roughly 20 seconds was the winning time. The prize was a T shirt (though everyone got the beer for free, I seem to remember).

That was 15 years ago when I lived in DC though. I'm a wine drinker now and stick to a glass or two per evening.

they are an Afghan restaurant but decorated and run like a pub. :crazy: And you could buy those yard and 1/2 yard glasses to take home. I guess you still can. :-)

Had to give it up because carbonated beverages were messing up my bladder. I don't drink anything but water now.

11. Saw it, then saw if break

when the guy finished he broke the yard on the bar by accident and lost the 60$ deposit they made him put down on the thing. Hence I have never done a yard although a yard of Smithwicks or John Courage would be a snap considering how fast those beers seem to go in me:toast:
