Wow - great great stuff - it always amazes me how far superior English bands are to American ones.

Yes, you got that right. UK has a monopoly on great music. Make two lists of "great bands" with two columns, US and UK. You'll be on bands like "The Monkees" and "Paul Revere and the Raiders" while you'll only be up to Led Zeppelin on the UK list. And this is for an island the size of California.

But yea, B&S are amazing.

6. I absolutely love them.
I have If You're Feeling Sinister and The Life Pursuit. Both very good. I think I'll get Dear Catastrophe Waitress next, and maybe Tigermilk.

Once you know what they sound like, it's very easy to hear one of their songs--even if you've never heard it before--and exclaim "Hey! Belle and Sebastian!" I've done this in a Starbucks and also what is now my favorite used-clothing store.

10. What a coincidence.
So was Ian Brady.

And he murdered children like they murder music.

8. You should definitely check out If You're Feeling Sinister
It's a much better album imo.

But don't hate on American music. While we did produce such horrible groups like the Monkees and N*Sync and such, we also produced a litany of amazing music I can't even list. Whole genres such as blues, gospel, soul, bluegrass, country (REAL country, ala johnny cash and merle haggard), folk, rock and roll, jazz....

12. ARGGGH! Don't even start on the Monkees
My biggest beef with the Monkees is that they buried some great songwriters - like Carole King who wrote most of their good stuff.
