1. Is it warm?
I hear that's one of the drawbacks, the heat.

2. I haven't slept on it yet,
but it says on the box that it's ultra-cool (translation: body-heat neutral)

29. It wasn't warm!
Edited on Sun Aug-26-07 06:37 PM by huskerlaw
It is, in fact, body-heat neutral. Just go for the one that claims as much on the box. ;)

On edit: Last night was spectacularly humid (by LA standards), and it lacked a breeze. So if I was going to be sticky, last night would have done it.

4. The queen size
was $180 at Target.

Pricey, but ridiculously comfy.

They also have a Target brand, which my roomie bought. Hers was $100 for a Full, and it's also quite comfortable.

6. Ewww!
Do you have an Ikea anywhere near you? Their mattresses are pretty decent, and relatively cheap.

I slept on an air mattress for 2 weeks when I first moved out here...never again, if I can help it.

8. Nope, no Ikeas in the entire province.
I have a couple of old mattresses but they're horribly uncomfortable. The memory foam would fix that. (I have them stacked with the air mattress on top for the height, but yeah, it sucks.)

And I have a perfectly good bed back home at my dad's place, but getting it out here seems to be an extremely daunting task.

14. No Ikeas?!
:wow:

That sucks!

As does sleeping on a craptacular bed. I do highly recommend the pad...though I haven't slept on it yet.

I could give an update in the morning though!

So for now, there are none.

not the entire mattress.

12. the one we seen today had a pad, maybe 2-3" thick or so, but it looked...
attached to a mattress, you can buy just the pad?

13. Yup
My pad is also about 2" thick, but I bought it at Target. It just goes on top of a regular mattress.

$180 for the queen size.

9. About damn time!
Nini and I got a mattress pad last year (don't have the brand name handy), and it RULES. I was hesitant when she talked about getting one, thinking it may not work for me, etc. So now I claim credit, saying what a genius I am for getting one. :P

We sleep SO MUCH BETTER. Saturday mornings, after working our asses off all week, are COMA TIME.

21. we got one for our waterbed. now we don't have to run the heater
on the water bed, and the sheets don't slip around all over the place anymore, and it stabilizes the "float tidal wave" effect when the Heavy Person turns over and sends a tsunami to my side of the bed.

19. I'm not sure it would help me...
My mattress is okay. My problem getting comfortable can be traced to the 5 little bodies sharing the bed with me -- four cats and a dachshund. The doxie likes to sleep horizontally, the fattest cat in the world likes to sleep on my pillow, and so on. It's a queen size bed and there's no room for me!

No, this could actually make it worse. My cats have barely left the bed since I put the pad on it. ;)

And so did the kitten. First time she hasn't woken up repeatedly throughout the night, though that may be a coincidence. ;)

I have been trying to decide on a memory foam or a feather bed. These tired bones need cushioning...

23. I picked up one at Target, too.
No more body aches, just sweet, sweet sleep. The cat was a little freaked by it at first. He didn't know what the hell he was steppin' into. I notice he's been sleeping belly up lately, so I think that's a paws up.

33. Do those things come in a twin bed size? That's the only size I have room for.
I've suffered from on and off insomnia for years, and my crappy old mattress ain't helping any. Any upgrade would be great for me.
Of course, getting off the night shift so I can sleep when the sun isn't streaming in my window will probably help too...
