1. Bubble tea:
Bubble tea is a tea beverage that originated in Taiwan<1> in the 1980s. The term "bubble" refers to the tapioca balls in the drink. These chewy tapioca balls, or "pearls," are consumed along with the beverage through a wide straw. Bubble tea is especially popular in many East Asian and Southeast Asian regions such as Taiwan, Brunei, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan.

2. You should try it just for the experience
The tapioca balls can be in milk tea or in a smoothie. I don't care for it because I can handle the tapioca balls at first but as I drink more, they get begin to gross me out. I want to enjoy the drink but I can't because the damn balls keep coming up.

6. You can get it w/o the tapioca
The smoothies are usually pretty good and they have a variety of teas.

You should try it, I did, at the behest of a very pretty young lady on a first date with me who lived around there. You'll try anything once for a girl! :)

ON EDIT: Here's a picture, did this for a project I'm working on with my Grandmother, who is a native U-City resident, updating her publication "A brief history of U-City".

12. I like it...
...but then, I like weird things. The tapioca balls are really rather flavorless, though.

I've heard it called "pearl tea."
