I went swimming for the first time this year today.

Ok, so it was in a 4' deep 18' across above-ground pool. Big deal. The water was clear blue, warm, and I had my favorite Labrador Retriever hound puppy swimming with me.

It just doesn't get any better than that.

1. It does in the ocean with the surf tossing you about, knocking you around like a rag doll,

getting salt in the back of your throat until it burns like hell, and you still yelping and screaming with joy at being utterly consumed by nature, surrounded by water and feeling like a fish or an unelegant mermaid.
