Guess who was puking on the lawn an hour BEFORE my BIL's wedding?
No, not me. I do actually have more tact than to get loaded before the ceremony.

JackMN. Wanted to cuddle all day (not normal) and then started horking on the lawn right before the ceremony. I had to run home so my mom could come watch him.

Groom's dinner afterparty? Missed it. Had to stay home with kids.

The part of the reception where everyone's laughing and dancing and drunk? Missed it. Had to go back home to tend to the puker.

Can someone please have a party that I can actually BE AT?

:banghead:

1. My oldest daughter got sick for every family event
Until she hit the age of about 14. I think it was sheer excitement and anticipation. Parties, Christmas, Halloween, you name it - poor kid turned green and puked for every one.

Bummer you missed the fun. We moms get shafted a lot, don't we? x(

8. He's all yours.
However, he's trying to smack most people who attempt to kiss him, lately.
When I ask if he has any smooches for me, he presents his hand and lets me kiss that.
:eyes:

He's growing up.

6. He must have pulled a sippy cup switcheroo.
The poor kid was so sick. On the plus side, I got about a month's worth of snuggle time in one night!

:D

14. I soooooo feel for you, as I've been in the same situation with Sergio...
...on more than one occasion. Luckily, this summer has been relatively incident free. The winters are another story all together.

17. Oh, I hear ya!
I've gotten relatively spoiled this summer.
The school year? Chronic crap. I can't wait.
I didn't get a flu shot last year, but I think I'd better, this year. I'm going to be too busy with classes (and inevitably, sick kids) to afford to get sick much, myself.

How's miss Vega doing?

18. She's spectacular!
And Sergio loves her. I was, as I'm sure you'll understand better than anyone, a bit nervous about how Sergi would react to a new "Bicho" in the house. To our relief, and admitted surprise, he's done very well and hasn't shown an inkling of the jealousy we half expected. Although it was perhaps a bit sooner than we might have liked, I think we did the right thing getting the 2nd out of the way sooner rather than later. Now, the only thing left is the snip snip for me. 2 will most definitely be enough for this family.

3. How's he feeling today?
Poor little guy. I feel your pain. TeenMidlo threw up all over the bathroom floor at the Richmond airport when she was 4 about 3 minutes prior to boarding. Talk about a nerve wracking flight.

7. Oh, he was FINE the next day.
Running around, throwing tantrums, demanding waffles...

I *kindofalittlebit* wish he was still tired and snuggly.

19. So her WC drinking started early
Just like me, now that's a child I can be proud of. Why don't Oprah ever call these kids heroes, doesn't she knows they're our only hope to kill fundamentalism?

9. well, the minister puked at my sister's wedding ....
At least it was after the service.

It was a backyard wedding on a very hot and humid day, and people started drinking before the ceremony, around noon. A couple hours into the reception, the minister was praying to the porcelain god .... all of us were pretty sloshed.

ah, the '70s.

It really is an unparalleled experience, to throw up.

13. I like the more formal word: EMIT
Emitting looks so nice and formal.

As in the groom who drunk the night before the wedding emitted just as he said I doooooooooooooblech

15. I thought it was a Murphy's Law thing for parents that the kid will be sick.
I have just accepted that this is what it means to be a parent.

That image of Mom and baby blissfully rocking away while mom wears that lovely pink robe and pretty pink slippers? Fa-gedda-bout-it! It is more like the mom will be wearing a chenille bathrobe and old athletic socks while the kid throws up down her back...

I love my daughter without reservation, but kids really DO play havoc with not only your social life but your own ideas about what it means to be a parent. Accept the following as your reality and you will stay much happier and avoid upsets:

IF you have any kind of plans at all for anything fun your child will get sick.

IF you PLAN any event more than one hour beforehand your kid will get sick.

IF you even THINK you might want to do something fun your kid will get sick.

Hope his tummy is feeling better!

16. Lol!
I'm usually more prepared for the sudden illness incidents, but summer and the drastic reduction in ailments prompts me to lower my guard.

Jack's just gearing up for school. The minute he's around other kids, his nose will be perpetually dripping and he'll bring every conceivable bug into the house that's circulating within an eighty mile radius of us.

I'm still looking forward to school, though!
