It's been way too long since I've written a fresh poem

All of my work is fading away, much like the subject of this new work in progress I just began.

Remembering
faded sepia moments
from years ago
frozen shapshot thoughts
of special instants
once carved in paper
now sitting curled and bent,
stacked in a forgotten drawer
blurred memories
of forgotten times and things-
friends long lost
and pets long gone
and places not visited
in way too many years
instants half-remembered
but mostly forgotten
in time

3. I sometimes think I've run out of new things to say

It becomes a real strain sometimes- a lot gets said and done over the course of half a century, and sooner or later one ends up merely repeating themselves.

You are not repeating yourself...

Sounds to me as though you need your batteries recharged...

If you truly feel that way, then stop writing for awhile...

Sooner or later, those words will be banging around inside you, demanding to be let out...

5. You misunderstand

This is one of just two new poems I've written in the past seven YEARS. It's really been that long since I've had any real fresh, genuine inspiration. Until now, all the things I've posted here are from an old manuscript of my collected works.

The only reason I sat down and wrote this one is the words have been floating around inside my head for a couple years now, and I just now got pissed off enough to write them down, just to prove to myself I could still do it.
