Does Drinking Alone = Alcoholism?
Cuz I just started. And I'm at home. And I know I won't get a DUI which is somehow comforting. And it's Sunday. And I just watched some show called Flavor of Love and feel like I need a shower and a drink.

1. No more than eating alone
means you have an eating disorder.

2. I don't think so
I do think that drinking and having it cause problems in your life and not being able to do something to change things is more a sign of it than something like drinking alone.

It's hard to call it social drinking alone, but I don't know that it equals alcoholism.

There are people who drink problematically and are able to quit or modify their drinking if they have problems because of it.

3. No.
If you want a drink, that doesn't make you an alcoholic, even if you're alone.

If you NEED a drink then you may be one and should think about it.

4. I try to avoid doing that.
Even going out to a bar or restaurant to partake.

Because I know I am vulnerable to falling into that trap.

Alcohol should not be a substitute for certain things. But I wholly understand why it ends up being that way.

Drinking alone can be more relaxing.

13. Dunno, maybe check with the experts
I've heard this one, too. It seems absurd, though. Just because there are other people around doesn't mean the drinker is NOT an alcoholic.

Maybe they mean alcohol is only for social occasions, so that being alone is necessarily drinking unnecessarily. But then why does that have to be, and why can't you have a drink just because there is no one else around or you can't find another drinker at the hour in question?

I'll have a drink, so at least you are drinking "with" someone on DU.

Somewhat famous to NASCAR fans.

There's a Dem governor and the other Senator is also Dem but there is only one rep for the whole state and he is a rethug.

What state or country are you in?

32. Navy, marines...
There's like 6 bases, which means guy:girl ratios are about 7-3 in most bars. Kind of like Anchorage, AK.

Hi. I'd like to move from Los Angeles to Delaware. :wtf:

34. I was from Delaware first. Probably the only way that has ever
happened. It would never be the reverse!

Though Delaware tries to make itself a good place to make movies. But the New Hollywood it is not!

But your girl/guy ratio should be better (for a guy). Delaware is like 55% female.

36. Just Google Mapped Delaware
to find out exactly where it was. Apparently it's what prevents waves crashing against Baltimore's shores. Does that mean there's a surf culture in Delaware? Like...surf shops and stuff? Or only during hurricanes? I'll have to think of a reason to check out Delaware to wade into that 55% female territory... :hi:

So basically nowhere. You leave Jersey, wander across DE for 15 minutes, and end up in Maryland, slightly poorer for your brief travels.

There's nothing wrong with it, occasionally.

But if you do it everyday? That could be a problem.
