15. It's great...
I've gone to Community College (which was excellent) and University. It's wonderful! You get the opportunity to learn SO many things you never learned before, so many different perspectives, teachers, etc. I love it. I'll be sad to leave, in a way. But, after I have my future baby, I get to go back for my Master's!! :bounce:

:P

You're going to do great!! Where are you thinking of going?

29. Completely!! I did see that you said earlier today
that you might take a year off. My advice, apply, get accepted, defer for a year, and do your thing. Don't put off the applying part...That was my mistake, and I didn't go back to school until I was 25. I don't regret my life experiences in the interim, per se, but I think I may have been better off going to school earlier.

But, then again, my life would be 100% different if I had, so I dunno....I'm pretty happy being almost graduated, married to Sniffa, and doing my thing. :P

20. Don't worry about going to college a year younger than your friends
As I'm sure you've figured out by now it's not an obstacle to social interaction. That said, college is what you make of it. If I could offer one piece of advice it would be to live on campus for as long as possible. While you might not get the experience of living totally on your own, etc. you do get to form bonds with the other dorm dwellers which are really strong, close and long-lasting. I wouldn't trade that for some one room apartment in the middle of nowhere.

28. Well, that is what it is
but IMHO the best thing about living on campus is that when you get that urge at 1am to go hang out with people, there's always someone to talk to. That, and your friends are never far away at all.

40. First of all, going to class in the morning... not cool
My university didn't have arts classes (engineers lived in a parallel universe) which started before 10am. Secondly, the idea that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" is a propaganda lie perpetrated upon us by the breakfast-industrial complex. Thirdly, regardless *you've got to show committment*!!! You're hanging out late at night? People want to watch another movie? You *do* it dammit!!! Peer pressure compels you! Got it!?!? If you wanna be cool, you get by on minimal sleep even when you don't have to. *That's* what seperates the pros from the amateurs.

Now, if you can do that while still getting good grades, being in the school play, volunteering etc... that's hall of fame territory.

43. see this is where i differ from you
i don't care about being "cool." i care about being successful and while i do hope to have friends and a good time in college i'm going there for an education over everything else. as for being "cool" i'm not going to force myself to do anything to make people like me. if they like me then that's cool, if not then so be it.

;)

45. That was hyperbole
But being "cool" doesn't mean one thing or another. It means whatever you want it to mean. You don't have to be a party type. I wasn't a party type. I never went to clubs. I went to bars sometimes, with groups of friends to hang out and play some pool. So, you don't have to be Joe or Jane Smooth all the time. Just be yourself, and other people like you will gravitate to you and each other. But back to the point and being more serious, living on campus is a good idea because it allows you to maximize social time with the people you choose to spend time with.

I'd say I had a pretty good college career. I was on the Dean's list, did extracurricular stuff, made good friends, etc. But I didn't get the best accolade until the very end, when a freshman I'd only known for a year told me that he was sad I wasn't going to be at school next year. That meant a lot to me, because although my name may live on in some dusty archive (unless I become famous, of course :)) it is better that I remain in the fond memories of those who knew me best. So, of all the things I did in college, making these kinds of friendships was, IMHO, perhaps the most formative experience I've had and one of the best uses of my time at school.

44. That's the problem with time travel...
If you go back into the past and change something, the only person who will know history has been changed is you. If you return to your own time after changing the past, the world will be entirely different and you will be entirely the same.

Ah, I loves me a good temporal paradox...

so now that people know that you changed history they can go back and prevent you from changing it creating a new history.. or would that be an old history
