Is Sarah Silverman Funny?

but her humor goes a bit too far for me. I think some of it is a put-on, but sometimes she just seems to want to shock. She is one of the few female comics I dislike.


I much prefer Margaret Cho and the late Bill Hicks, whose shock seems to have a point.

I'm not into the whole "shock/offend/gross out" type humor. Actually, I hate it, which is why you wouldn't catch me dead listening to people like Howard Stern.

EDIT: The exception to this is South Park.

Dick, fart and rape jokes in a little girl voice kinda seem like a comedic gimmick to me.

I remember everyone flipping out over some Paris Hilton joke she told at the MTV Movie Awards and when I finally heard it I was like, "That's it???". It was something a fifth grader would come up with.

30 minutes of her is about enough, but yeah, I've gotten some good laughs from her.

She says horrid, offensive things, but that whole schtick is aimed at herself, not at others. That's a crucial difference, without which she wouldn't be funny at all.

For both humor and offensiveness. Sometimes she's funny, sometimes she's offensive, sometimes she's both, and sometimes she's neither.
