Things that I will eat only if I make them myself:
These are things that I will not eat in restaurants, at gatherings etc, b/c I only like them the way that I make them (I think it's a problem with the amount and brand of mayo):

Tuna salad
Egg salad
Chicken salad

I won't eat any pasta salads, except for my Mom's. One exception is cold cheese tortellini in pesto. Yum. :9

I will eat eggs in restaurants, but I generally don't enjoy them very much. I prefer to make those at home.

Does anyone else have quirks like that with food? :hi:

2. True! I can *sometimes* let that one slide...
weird. I don't like it when it has a ton of mayo on it, but I can at least scrape it off of the potatoes.

9. I will eat potato salad at Red Hot and Blue I freaking LOVE
that potato salad. I like mine better but theirs is really good and they serve so much of it that it is always fresh.

But I am cautious about tuna salad; chicken salad I will eat at certain places. Down here don't see egg salad like you do up North. Pimento Cheese is the big deal here.

I tend to order in restaurants things I normally do not cook at home. Sometimes I just don't know how to make them sometimes I don't want to take the trouble to make them.

However I love to eat breakfast out, especially when on vacation: long leisurely big breakfast with endless coffee, eggs over easy, hash browns, biscuits, gravy etc. don't do that much anymore.

7. All of the above plus hamburgers.
They are never cooked evenly enough nor long enough for me.

10. I'd agree on the chicken salad part.
I don't like egg salad and tuna salad so much though. Oh, and salmon. I love it when prepared by myself or my husband (or a really good restaurant), but I've learned to be fussy due to repeated disappointment with the salmon of others.

11. I'm in agreement, too.
I like my egg salad and tuna plain, with just mayo and salt and pepper in the egg salad. And I like my egg salad really fine, not big huge chunks of eggs. I don't cut the eggs up, but mash them with a fork (thanks, nuxvomica). And, if you get them elsewhere, they put all manner of things in them, celery, hunks of onion, mustard in the egg salad. I feel the same way about potato salad and I don't trust chicken salad out, always seem to find a bone. I make mine with hard boiled eggs and garlic powder, a recipe I saw on The Food Network. I also make my own pesto: fresh basil, olive oil, pine nuts, salt and two kinds of cheese. There are some things that you can only trust yourself to make... :hi:
