Pictures, Part 3: Brugge, Belgium
Edited on Fri Aug-17-07 01:08 PM by huskerlaw
Brugge was one of my favorite towns. It's very quaint...it was basically left alone for over 500 years after the canals dried up and it was no longer a major port city. They've since re-dug the canals, and it's lovely. Enjoy!

2. I could too...

5. Thanks, Peggy!
I loved Europe too. It's definitely a different culture, but at the same time, I was surprised by how much is the same.

And it is beautiful...makes it easy to photograph!

8. Even though Brugge is right down the road,
I have never been there. Shameful, really for someone
who is in Brussels once a week for work. One of these days,
I'll take a day off and run down there. Everyone tells
me it is gorgeous, and I can even understand the language.

As for living there, my wife is German and prefers to live
"at home", and since I decide where our European HQ is, well
I let her influence my decision a little (OK, a LOT! LOL).
But we don't have it so bad. Check out what's in our back yard:

11. Oooh, lovely!
Your backyard is amazing!

You know, one of the major differences I noticed between the US and Europe was our sense of distance. I traveled with a friend who lives in Gent and she hadn't been to many of the Belgian cities that we went to. To me, a few hours' drive is nothing...I spend 2 hours a day commuting to/from work...and I could drive for 2 hours and still be in the same city. But in Europe, it seems that's not the case at all.
