4. It *can* be entertaining, though...
I had a co-worker who used to try to scare me by trying to describe how really really terribly awful hell is. His long-winded, bizarro analogies were nearly always good for a chuckle. :)

I hope you are dressed in full pirate regalia. FSM rules require that for anyone discussing His Spagettiness.

12. My mom was a Jehovah's Witness who got kicked out of their meeting...
...almost literally, I mean with big guys escorting her to the door. She gets into heated arguments with Priests and Bishops. She'd argue with the Pope if she had that opportunity.

My mom is also crazy and God talks directly to her on occasion. She is always talking to Him. I don't know how He can stand it, why He doesn't Just strike her speechless sometimes.

Anyways, my Mom gave me God's phone number, the private one, where you don't have to go through His receptionists or secretaries.

Ain't a lot of proselytizers who can top that.

We're a captive audience for half an hour because we're stuck on a boat, and there's some lunatic shouting fire and brimstone at the top of his lungs.

17. That and overuse of magical thinking.
I don't actually mind magical thinking. It's a very useful and creative way to think sometimes. But when people apply it in place of reason and common sense it gets very amazingly annoying.

That's my biggest problem with religion.

If people used religion as a philosophical framework and a moral starting point, without becoming dependent upon their relgion and without pushing it on other people then I'd be a big defender of religion.

21. Proselytize
I despise all religions

I will not have a religion tell me what to eat on a certain day
or wear certain clothing, or do certain things.

So I balled my hand into a fist and said, "Why, do you want me to introduce you to him?" He declined.

25. In a much more inappropriate setting
Someone asked me that and I tried not to say it but my mouth was engaged before my brain could stop:

"well, I haven't had coffee with him lately" was my answer

:eyes:

bad decision, fortunately it was not noticed particularly and was okay.

not really okay by me, but well, okay enough.

29. It annoys me but I do find it interesting. Many if not all folks who have approached me
to try to "explain" their religion do it in part by deprecating somebody else's religion. The fact that everybody seems to believe they follow the one true religion is something I noticed pretty early on. We're an insecure bunch, we human beings.
