I worked at a Santa Monica law firm with offices at the top of an office tower. One day, in early December (in the middle of the recount drama), I got on the elevator with one of our attorneys and our file clerk, all headed downstairs to lunch. There was one floor above us, and one of the building's maintenance guys was already on the elevator when we got on.
My colleagues and I (all liberals) had been discussing the recount, and continued our discussion on the elevator. About halfway down, Mr. Maintenance Guy loudly, and uninvitedly, interjects "Al Gore is a WIMP."
That's when I lost it.
I pivoted instantly to face him, lectured him first on how rude it was to butt into a conversation to which he was not a party, then lit into him about the election. This continued the rest of the way down the elevator and into the elevator lobby, where I literally had him backed up against a wall, and was as in your face as a person could get. Our file clerk had to physically pull me away from the guy, and I was shaking with rage. I've never done anything like that before, or since (came close a time or two). Oh, and I'm 5'5", and he was well over 6 feet tall. He avoided me like the plague whenever he saw me after that in the building. Asshole.
