Radio Lady in Oregon Needs August Guests In Studio! Here's why:
Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 03:33 PM by Radio_Lady

I just came back from vacation in San Francisco, and only have one local author guest booked for this Friday 8/17.

Oregon Public Broadcasting's Accessible Information Network has recently updated its format to (almost) all digital. We are working with Goldwave, a digital editing program which is a big improvement.

However, we have NO telephone lines hooked up with this new system!! I think they need a new server which is on order but hasn't been received yet. It is taking more time than I anticipated.

This has severely curtailed my ability to book telephone guests -- around the country -- to ZERO. I have to rely on local guests, or people who will be in town from other places on Friday mornings and able to come to OPB when I record my show (anytime between 7AM and 10AM Pacific Time).

If you are in Portland, or you can suggest a DUer or someone else in this area and they are willing and able to come down to our studio at 7140 Macadam Avenue, Portland, OR 97219, I'd love to hear from you.

Right now, both Friday, August 24 and Friday, August 31 are wide open.

There may be an opening on Friday, September 7 also.

Please contact me either in this thread or via PM. More information will be sent to you if you are chosen.

Thanks for your consideration.

Making peace a priority,

Radio Lady Ellen in Oregon

4. Hi Parche... I have another commitment on Wednesday, but if you wish,

you might be able to give out this information at the meeting.

My husband has participated in the past, so he knows you get a pretty good crowd.

Whoever wants to call me at the station on Friday morning between 7AM and 11AM, please dial 503-293-1902 -- that's a direct line -- just ask for Ellen. If I'm recording, I'm sure someone will write a return number down so I could call any potential guest for the other Fridays in August or early September.

Thanks for your post.

6. Sportsism!
Or would that be anti-sportsism?

:)

Hope you find some interesting folks!

7. I lost interest in sports years ago. Besides, the second radio station I worked at had
an all-sports theme, and I was the "RELIEF" talker. That was WEEI, Boston.

At the first radio station, WIOD, Miami, I worked with Larry King who was a top sportscaster with his own TV show. That was during the year that the Miami Dolphins had their "perfect" year -- they won all their games and also the Super Bowl.

Nothing beat that, either before or after.

2. Program is 50 minutes -- guests usually stay for at least 20--30 minutes.
There are no breaks or call ins. It's just one to one discussion on a non-commercial station.

Our available local audience size is estimated at 80,000 to 100,000 adults in Oregon and southern Washington.

We stream 24/7 on the Internet and have no figures for the size of that audience through www.opb.org
