Any Closer fans?
Do you think Fritz and Brenda will actually make it down the aisle? Or will they go the way of typical TV couples which is either them breaking up or having the non-star partner get killed off?

It be nice to see the writers figure out a way to keep them together and keep them interesting.

The serious episodes are well written and well acted but I prefer the more humorous episodes. The cast is great, I love Gabrielle, Flynn, Fritz and especially Provenza,

Tonights features Kevin Bacon directing wife Kyra, should be interesting.

1. I'm a fan. However,
as an Atlantan (though, like most of the people here, I'm a Yankee transplant), I have to say that Kyra's accent is not really Atlanta. I'm not sure what it is. I guess "Hollywood Atlanta". We make fun of it here "Thank YEEEWWW" But we do like Kyra.

4. The accent does sound a little affected
even to me here in NY State but I do like the rest of her performance. She and the rest of the cast work well together.

I loved how he asked where Fritz was going to sleep? And her Mama is Flo from Alice. She's good in her role too.

but I wish they weren't. It would really be a nice change to see a TV couple work out.

3. Me, me, me!!!! I love that show!
The one with the bitchy bride from a few episodes back was absolutely hysterical!

I like the rest of the cast too, especially Provenza (aka Rizzo, from the M*A*S*H TV series.)

8. The bride episode was one of the best!
I also like the episode where they were getting their training from Homeland security while Brenda was trying to solve her case, and then the mini riot that broke out in her office.

I also loved Provenza in the episode about the nursing home posionings. His expression when that woman asked him if he was looking to become a resident was priceless.

6. LOVE IT!
However, I'm not really a Brenda-Fritz fan. I want her paired with Pope.

I do love the episodes directed by Kevin, though. He seems to make them...I don't know...the scenes pop more or something.

I haven't seen last night's ep yet, but it's on my TiVo. ;)

9. I think you will enjoy last night's episode.
It was just the right balance of serious/vs funny, IMHO.

Kevin does do a great job directing.

I like Pope too! I like the actor and remember him from Law and Order as one of the psychiatrists.

I'm just not sure with them that I'd like the whole dating the boss scenario, but it could provide some interesting stories.

I do like Fritz a lot though and would hate to see him get his heart broken.

10. Cool!
I love JK Simmons from when he was on Oz. He played a Nazi-skinhead, and I still managed to love him. (I knowwww...but thankfully, it was just acting, lol)

I used to hate Fritz, because he was basically just window-dressing. His character has gotten better this season, and by the end of last week, I wasn't quite as against them as a couple. But I'm still in the Pope camp, even though you're right about the weirdness of dating the boss.

11. Especially since they already dated
I don't think it's a good re-visit, at least right now. But the video of Pope's relief after the shooting was cool, he's such a good actor.

12. Yeah,
it's really more about my love for the actor who plays Pope than for the actual characters. I admit that.

19. Another Pope fan here.
I loved him (Pope) in "Thank You For Smoking" I think he and Brenda would make a great couple.
BTW anyone know if the actor who plays Fritz, is the same one who played Anthony, Michael's son, in Godfather lll?

14. Provenza was GREAT last night
His expression when he came out of the elevator at the end.
His "directing" of the case: "Tao?" "Flynn?".
Couple others that I had to pause the TiVo for but can't remember at the moment.

Makes me realize how much he was wasted in the Police Academy movies.

15. BUT... (last night's ep)
Hel-LO how long does it take to figure out they were shooting at the reporter? GEEZ LOUISE now, HMMMMMMMM where ARE all the bullet holes? All in the back of the car, you say? What an AMAZING coincidence!

:eyes:

That part should have been shorter, and the linking of the restaurant owner should have been more drawn-out.

was kind of ridiculous. It was like come on the others are detectives too but Brenda was the only one who realized the signaficance of where the bullet holes were?

28. Shee-ooot! I'm watching Monday's episode again, and just realized
who the guy playing Brenda's dad is: Barry Corbin!

I was slightly distracted during the opening credits when I first watched the episode, so didn't see his name, but damn, I recognized the voice!

Caught the opening credits tonight, and thought, DAMN! That's why he voice was familiar!

29. Me too, love The Closer. Pope isn't right guy for Brenda...
remember, he cheated on his wife. Fritz actually cares for her.
Put the broad Southern accent down to acting props, like Kojac's lollipops.

I say that all the time, even in business e-mails and throw in
a Ya'll sometimes. It's disarming Southern charm. The Closer is
on Monday night here and that's "my show".
