Is the Simpsons movie worth my time?
I still haven't seen it, having hated how the mediocrity of the last 7 or seasons have taited my favorite show's legacy.

Is the movie funny and cleve rlike the old stuff or loud and obnoxious and cringe-inducing like the recent years?

1. Based on what you've said, wait for DVD. I loved it.
I have been a fan since Tracy Ullman Show, but I've noted that people who aren't happy with the past few seasons don't.

2. I agree with this.

I really wanted to like it, and there were a couple of good bits, but overall: :-|

(I'm also a huge Albert Brooks fan and that didn't help much.)

All that said, there are worse ways to spend $8.

3. As a die-hard Simpsons fan, I have to say this:
I've been a fan since (literally) day one. Haven't missed it any Sunday. I haven't been exactly impressed with the last few seasons and VERY much miss the Phil Hartman era. But I loved the movie. It was quite enjoyable.

4. i'll give it a try, but i'm skeptical
i was a fanatic of the show up til about 99 or 2000, then it los tme with the celeb of the moment guests, over-the-top endings, homer becoming a jerk rather than a lovable idiot

but hopefully, there's enough from the old writers to get me to enjoy it

5. I loved it.
As for the series, I'd say the last one or two seasons have been much better than the previous four or five, and all considerably better than the first two or three.

6. I loved that movie!
I've been a fan of the show since the shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show, although I have never watched in religiously on Sunday nights. So I'm not a diehard fan, I usually just catch the episodes in syndication. That being said, I loved the movie and thought it was incredibly clever. But based on your OP, you're probably more of a serious fan of the show than I am, so you may want to wait for the DVD.

But then again, how often do you get to see The Simpsons on the big screen? That was a special treat, I must say... :)
