I can't vote in this because I am a guy and I am not gay. But I am curious what qualites you all like in each candidate. Would anyone choos Kucinich as their first choice? Also Rank each one of you have time. Thanks

If I were voting for hunk of the year politically it would be him. After that I would probably go with Dean, especially as a young guy. Clark then Kerry.

Clark (older and still quite Hot) I like his body and he's a swimmer. Plus I like old dudes. Edwards is next. Kerry cuz he's tall (U know what they say about tall men with big feet :), then Sharpton and Dean tied and DK. Uncle Joe is Dead last cuz I find his voice annoying and he has hair like George Washington.

Edwards is a pretty boy and doesn't move me. Don't like the way he moves his tongue when he talks. I guess he'd make a nice French kisser. I'm too old for him.
Dean is nice looking, kind of cute, but it ends there.
Kerry is distinguished but sends me nowhere. I'm still

DK is a cute little elf. If you like elves in the whitehouse...he'd be a good one.

But think about that article "Dancing With Dean, Coming Home to Kucinich"--

And the bumper stickers "Dated Dean, Married Kerry" ------

If you date or dance with Dean, marry Kerry, but come home to Kucinich, Dennis must have something to come home to, right?

25. You have to ask?
Howard Dean, absolutely.

John Kerry looks like lurch.
Dennis Kucinich looks oily and as if he needs to wash his hair. Does he smoke? That might account for his appearance.
Wesley Clark is TOO jut-chinned, clean-shaven, short-haired for my taste.
John Edwards is far too pretty and far too aware of how pretty he is.

Howard Dean has fairly ordinary looks in many ways, but they appeal to me. Plus, he so obviously loves his wife and admires her and encourages her career and her being a separate person -- all those things are extremely sexy, in my opinion.

Notice that NONE of the others have wives who lead independent lives. And Kucinich has been divorced -- is it twice? Not that I hold that against him, but still....

30. Ok here goes, and y'all can just leeme alone!
1. Kucinich
2. Clark
3. Edwards
4. Sharpton
5. Dean
6. Lieberman
7. Kerry

I have a thing for brains and heart over beauty. Dean has no lips which creeps me out (no offense, he's just not my personal taste.), Sharpton has something in his eyes that gets me somehow, a sparkle and a pain both. Edwards is just...well charming as all hell! Clark and Kucinich seem to have the highest cerebral content between them, and that's extremely attractive to me.

Kerry and Lieberman are flat not attractive to me at ALL, although I suspect Lieberman might have been cute when he was younger. I think Kerry didn't age very well judging from the pics I've seen but he has an engaging smile and what I'd consider genuine eyes.

On a side note, I've noticed eyes and lips are my main facial focual points to decide whether someone is attractive. Eyes first, then lips. Kucinich and Sharpton both have a depth to their eyes that remians unbeaten by the others and both have what I call kissable lips. Yeesh, can I crawl under a rock now or what?*ROTFL*

and Kerry ahead of Dean on my list...that no lips thing REALLY gives me the willies! For some weird reason I connect it with Right Wingers. LOL (Note, not an accusation just a statement of fact about the way my brain percieves things.)

And then probably Kerry ahead of Lieberman since the older pics of Kerry are attractive to me and I haven't seen any of Joe. Dang this is harder than I thought! LOL

Yeah, I said it. I'm sick of all the posts talking about God playing a cruel trick on Kucinich. So let me be the first female on DU to say that Kucinich is sexy in a Eugene Debs kind of way.

He's completely comfortable with himself and represents the essense of this party, and, well, I like little guys.

So here's my list:

Clark
Edwards
Kucinich

The rest have no eye appeal to me. None. That's the way I see it.

I would have to go with Dean, but I'm probably biased. I haven't noticed that he has no lips (like someone above me said) but I do think that sometimes he looks like a rabbit (it's his mouth), but not a real rabbit...a cartoon rabbit.

So Dean, Clark, Kucinich, Edwards, and Kery. In that order.

Kucinich kind of looks like an elf though. I would love to see him in a little green hat and suspenders or something. And I was glad when Graham dropped out because he was really creepy, in that he looked like a little boy and a old man all at the same time and that is just weird.

This thread was good for a laugh. :)

Still laughing about Graham. I thought he was creepy too. But let's not forget Mr. Gephardt. I know, he's out of the running, but with his fake hair and those strangely "West World" like eyes...ugh! Still can't see him without think of the "Powder" characterization given him on the Daily Show episode when the dem candidates were in Detroit. I always think of him as Powder now.
For the record, I think Dean is the obvious alpha male on the stage, regardless of his height and underbite. He's not afraid and it shows.

77. the rabbit factor
Before I decided on a candidate the only thing that was holding me back about Dean was the rabbit factor. But now I realize it might even help my man Dean. Am I the only one who had a thing for Bugs Bunny growing up? I think not. :D

hahaha Even jokingly though I think we could do with a Bugs Bunny factor when combatting the Elmer Fudd characterizations. :)

I agree with PassingFair about the Gephardt/Powder thing! And I haven't even watched the Daily Show in a while. But Graham, man, take a look at this pic from his website (up in the left-hand corner....you have to click on it to see him properly, so I think maybe they know he's kinda creepy looking): http://graham.senate.gov/ If that is not a weird-a$$ mixture of age signifers in one place then I don't know what is. He scares me! Wins my vote for weirdest-looker and I am not even trying to be mean.

:) Ha, I still love this thread.

57. A hunk?
Well, Edwards is obviously the prettiest. And he has an engaging manner, and an irrepressible twinkle in his eye, so I'll say he has to win the "hunk" contest.

Dennis has the smile. And the warmth, and the vibrant connection to trivialize the image issue. When he takes you by the hand, looks you in the eyes, and talks the issues, he'll melt the hardest heart. You have to engage with him, and then he's definitely a "hunk."

Clark could be in the running, too.

61. Actually you don't really.
I've never met Dennis yet, but he's absolutely my "hunk" in the bunch. It takes courage to be a man of peace in a time of war. It takes a lot more courage to be the ONLY man calling for immediate removal of your own military towards that end when everyone else is saying "B-b-b-ut you can't do that!". Dennis has a sense of himself and a confidence in himself that is unmatched anywhere, and that's another point of attraction for me.

Even so, the one time since I first found out who he is that I found him "ugly" to look at was at the last FOX debate, and I put that down to the lighting and probably exhaustion. Otherwise I could stare at him for hours and never get tired of his face.

any way he does have a real warmth to him in person. He is totally different when making a speech about something he is passionate about than in a debate on the news. My mother and i were talking about DK and JE and how they are around the same age but give off different impressions.Like edwards has a twinkle in his eye and energetic but while DK does have a twinkle in his eyes and is inspiring there is something else in him too. My mother thinks it is "battle scars" from fighting practically all of his life for people

66. Bill Maher: "Kerry should be throwing apples at Dorothy"
In other words-- he looks like a tree in the "Wizard of Oz."

Was kinda cute as a young man, but hasn't aged that well.

I'd say Dean is the sexiest-- he has that "je ne sais quoi".

at that Kerry/Oz joke! He DOES look like the tree and I had never connected the two. Great joke!

Go Wes!

67. They could all use a little work
Clark for those of us who like them older, but the suits..the suits and the ties are still awful. Looks great in the sweaters, though.

Edwards is the cutest, but the hair has to go. At least do something about the part.

Dean..perfectly nice looking in an average kind of way, but has goofy facial expressions and when in a suit tends to look like he's being choked by his collar.

Kerry - He can't do much about looking a little Lurch-like, but he absolutely has to get his hair trimmed every week if he's to stay in contention.

Kucinich is probably attractive if you like elves, but can't he do something with the hair? Or maybe he is doing something with it and should stop right now.

Sharpton is not a sex god, but I think he wins for "most improved" in the appearance area

Lieberman - I think he's the only one who's doing the most with what he's got to work with. Clothing fits right. Hair..kinda weird, but it suits him. Nice smile. Not presidential looking, though, and his positions aren't going to get many Democratic hearts fluttering.

80. Denny's date
I probably should have entered that contest.
I'm smaller than Denny.
I'm single.
I'm educated.
And... well... no offense... but my hair is much... I HAVE hair!!
That lady who was picked probably was ultra nice, but she didn't have nice hair (forgive me if she'd had chemo and I'm being a fool).
And, hell... I'd call him DENNY!
I rock!
Well... sometimes. :)

85. I'd call him Denny, too! But I wouldn't have

entered the contest since I'm married. It was stupid for that woman to win since she was living with her boyfriend (now her fiance) and hardly likely to marry DK and be his First Lady. It was weird that her hair was so thin, too -- weird because I think most women with hair like that would have worn a wig if they were going to be on national television. It must be due to some sort of medical condition and maybe she just refuses to wear a wig since they're hot and uncomfortable. I'd have gotten a Mohawk or shaved my head if I couldn't stand a wig, though. I gave the problem some thought when my thyroid levels dropped and my hair was falling out. I have a lot of hair, though, so it never got really noticeable (except to me) that I'd lost some.

Edwards is good looking, and Dean's not bad looking. I wouldn't put anyone else anywhere near the "hunk" category.

John Kennedy was a hunk. Bill Clinton was a hunk. Al Gore was a hunk. John Kerry is sort of a hunk. But Dennis Kucinich? No way!

78. AND THE WINNER IS
I gave 3 points for first place, 2 points for second place and 1 point for third place. Note: some people only voted for first or first and second.

First place votes shown like this (8)

AND THE WINNER IS:

1. Wesley Clark with 51 points. First place votes (14)

2. John Edwards with 46 points. (10)

3. Howard Dean with 19 points. (2)

4. Dennis Kucinich with 9 points. (2)

5. John Kerry with 4 points. (1)

6. Al Sharpton with 3 points. (1)

7. Jo Lieberman with 0 points (0) This is not good Jo good thing you were better looking when you were young.

Please note there were two first place votes for Edwards that were not counted because the voters claimed to be hetero. I am guessing that they are sexualy confused. Just kidding! Thanks Everyone

89. Additional detail... :)
Edwards: The most handsome in the traditional sense, he's just pretty to look at. He also has that southern charm in spades, although some find it a bit much.

Clark: He actually has a rather refined look, despite the military image. He is fine featured and handsome with a gorgeous smile.

Dean: Although not "pretty" he has a masculine charm and the type of body I prefer. He has sex appeal the other candidates don't. note: He's a Scorpio and we all know they are the gods of sex. This opinion is not influenced by the fact that I am also a Scorpio, of course, it's just a fact. ;)

88. Well.....I suppose Dean might make me holler.......yeeeehah...
if I had had a few drinks first. But other than that, it's really more about a person's energy. That's what attracts me. I appreciate a traditionally GQ kind of attractiveness from a purely aesthetic standpoint...but they don't turn me on without the inner fire (passion) to animate them. Clark, Kerry, and to a lesser extent Edwards...just don't light my fire. Too much like cardboard cutouts.

So I'd cast my fate with Kucinich if I had to choose.

Of course my current squeeze is juuuuuuuuuuust right, so it's difficult to imagine anything better.

I don't look at them and think, God,I'd like to bang that one. Let's vote for him. That's stupid right wing let's make women look stupid bullshit. They did a study a few years back that said that we vote based on looks. That's a bunch of shit.
