Thomas the Crack Engine
"Choo-choo."

"No, the choo-choo isn't on right now. How about..."

"Choo-choo."

"Hey, let's read Hop on P..."

"Daddy. Here. Choo-choo here."

"Where did your cars go?"

(grabs me by the face, swivels my head toward his)

"CHOO-CHOO."

Too cute! I can just see that.

Just wait until you can recite "Fox In Socks" sans book in under 2 minutes.

8. you'll be fine.
Just accept it and welcome your toddler overlords.

The *really* sad part is after the kid is asleep, you turn on the TV and of course it's on Sprout or Noggin or some such...you're too tired to change the channel, so you and the SO sit for hours deconstructing Caillou.

15. We have TiVo
So kids' shows are nonstop in our casa. More than three-quarters of the season passes are Jr's--Thomas, Noddy, Bob the Builder, Wiggles, JoJo, Higglytown Heroes (but WHY are they nesting dolls?!?!), and goddamned Caillou.

And I just want to know how come Caillou's parents hardly ever work. If they only need to work occasionally, then don't they have enough money to hire someone to give their house a decent paint job? And when is somebody gonna smack that overly smug Sarah? (Deconstructing? Who, us?)

The only show that's even remotely clever is Curious George, so I can at least enjoy that 25 minutes.

21. DH finds Nina a bit creepy
Specifically the line running the length of her shin when she sits cross-legged--he swears it's not human. (Watch--that's all you're gonna see from now on...it's freaky...)

Me, I just want to know why they can never hire anybody who can actually SING when they know the job requires it. Both Nina and her predecessor (the one who was fired for the "naughty videos") sing flatter 'n a pancake.

7. been there, got the Big Hug.
When he was learning his first words and phrases, he would anticipate what the narrator was going to say. They'd head off to disappear, and he'd look at us and say, "Where go?" They'd pop up after the first call for "Tubby bye-bye" and he'd say "Nooooo" before the disembodied voice would.

Wasn't sure whether to be proud of him or horrified at my parenting skills. :D

9. Adorable.
I love these stories. :D

When my kid was little, his addiction was to Winnie the Pooh, and that gave way to "Bananas in Pyjamas." Then Thomas came along, and he got into that for awhile. I didn't mind Thomas, because Carlin played the conductor for awhile, and I LOVE Carlin.

10. yeah, you have to love George Carlin narrating a kids' show.
:D

I think I'm glad Bananas in Pyjamas isn't part of the TV fare here. :hi:

Lazytown...

My son is doing a pretty good job of imitating the dance move and now does push-ups...

Of course his little sister is still stuck on "ki-ooh" (Caillou) sp?

We have also been though and currently do suffer through the disney movie of the week...

btw-my son learned to say "Barney" before he learned to say "Daddy"...oh well...what ya gonna do?

14. But they were BRITISH bananas.
What's cuter than a toddler imitating his idols' British accents? LOL.

I think that Bananas are gone, never to return. Oh, and my kid really liked Wishbone, too. Is Wishbone even around anymore for the younger set?

(I'm really perturbed with you because you didn't post a photo of your son, btw. :D)

17. Jr. adores Kipper
And if we call the small pig "Arnold", he corrects us. It must be the British pronunciation: "Ah-nood". I really think he thinks it's a completely different name.
