1. Crysis is coming next month

And I'm getting ready to build a new system for it!

BTW what are your system specs? FSX ran really slow on any system before SP1 came out.

2. Specs
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
AMD Athlon64 4200+ dual core
Nvidia 8800GTS 640MB (only one card installed so far)
2GB RAM (DDR400, CAS2.5)
2GB ReadyBoost USB drive
Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS
320GB SATA hard drive
Vista Ultimate 32-bit

VIsta's performance specs all exceed 5.5 except for the CPU, which is 5.0.

Flight Sim X, with or without SP1, was decent, but definitely much better with SP1. Can't wait for Acceleration to come out...

It's 8 months old. And I was at the cusp of going DDR2 until real life tests had shown no real advantage. By now DDR2_800 will be affordable anyway... :D

If only Asus added proper sound, I wouldn't need the SB card - then I could do SLI and not risk overheating of the second video card.

3. Onboard sound is never that great on any mobo
Hell, I have an old SB live! 5.1 sound card thats close to 7 years old now, but it sounds better than my dad's new HP pc with onboard sound! Crazy isn't it?

5. Thanks HypnoToad- First I have heard of the readyboost!
I just ordered a 4 gig drive after I read your post. I have the same motherboard you have and am using an SLI setup with a S/B x-fi card. No overheating problems.

6. Sweet. BTW, some hints re: that board and for Readyboost,
not all flash drives will work with it.

Sandisk drives typically work great.

I might get a 4GB drive, though I think the 2GB module is overkill.

If you use four 1GB modules, you will have to set your BIOS memory timing to 2T. 1T is optimal, but cannot work with 4 modules in use. When 2 modules are in use, performance is quite faster. Never mind no 32-bit OS can see more than 3GB, as the remaining space is used for peripheral DMA access.

If you had two Nvidia 8800GTX cards installed, a 4GB machine's usable RAM limit would go down to 2.75GB. Ouch.

Also, the same mobo has a problem with the 8800 cards - there's a goofy flicker during POST and when the OS blanks the screen; it blinks garbage of what was in the memory buffer. I'm hoping ASUS comes out with another BIOS patch soon, but they blamed the problem onto Windows. Could they not read English with a detail explanation of the problem? If it happens before the OS boots, it's not an OS driver... grumble. Asus is normally a good brand...

Nvidia recently updated their drivers too; now 162.xx - this has improved SLI support using DX10.

Thx for the info re: SLI plus SB card... are your video cards 8800 series cards? (they get to 60 degrees C with ease...)

7. No. I am running 7950 cards.
I am a total geek and bought 7950's when they were first released. I will have to upgrade to the 8000 series in the near future.

And Vista Home Premium.

I picked that E4400 cpu cause from the articles and reviews I'v seen, it overclocks to well over 3ghz and matches the performance of the X6800 cpu! Provided that theirs good cooling, it'll remain very stable.

My plans for the case, I'm actually thinking about having a good veiw of my car air brushed on it (01 Trans Am WS6) when I get it looking like this one!
