Child Eats Mother's LSD-Laced Candy

Police: Child Eats Mother's LSD-Laced Candy
Donielle Maki Faces Multiple Charges

POSTED: 12:22 pm CDT August 3, 2007

WEST BEND, Wis. -- A West Bend mother faces charges including child abuse after police said her 2-year-old daughter ate LSD-laced candy that her mother left out.

According to the criminal complaint, 23-year-old Donielle Maki bought 10 hits of LSD on Tuesday that came in the form of Sweet Tarts.

The complaint said when Maki woke up the next morning, her daughter was holding one of the LSD-laced Sweet Tarts in her hand and said, "I like these, Mommy."

6. it looks like Mommy loved her child enough to grab them
from toddler's hand and took her to the hospital even though she knew she'd get arrested and possible loss of custody.

7. That may be but could also be that
she didn't want to get charged with murder.

But you're right. At least she got the baby to the hospital.

10. That's where my dad lives,

and I'm amazed at how many wacky things happen there. This story is really sad, but often times the news from West Bend is bizarre. It's Wisconsin's mini-Florida.

11. Okay, I must be naive. People still do LSD?
Someone left this shit out where a kid could get it? I find the stupidity of doing that criminal in itself.

One of my kids moved a chair, climbed up on a cabinet, climbe the cabinet shelves like a ladder, and go ahold of a bottle of codeine-laced cough syrup years ago. I mean, I had to climb up and stand on the counter to get the stuff down. So she scaled those shelves like a mountain goat. And drank that nasty stuff. She slept for two days. I hauled her ass to the emergency room and the doctor said she was okay but that I was going to have one of the quietest two days I'd had in a long time. She was almost four.

So I know what kids are capable of. (My brother also drank turpentine when he was two.) So for anyone to leave something like that out with a little kid, they ought to get ten years tacked onto their sentence.
