Kirk Cameron --> Robert Downey Jr. --> Christian Slater --> John Cusack
Trivia for
Say Anything...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098258/trivia

Director Cameron Crowe couldn't find the love song he wanted until he heard Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes". Gabriel asked to see part of the movie. Crowe had the production company send him an unfinished cut. Gabriel responded by saying he would let them use the song, as he liked the film. He was, however, wary about the part where the lead character overdosed at the end. It was then that Crowe realized that Gabriel had been sent a copy of Wired (1989) instead.

Kirk Cameron was nearly cast as Lloyd instead of John Cusack.

Robert Downey Jr. turned down the lead played by John Cusack.

Christian Slater auditioned for the role of Lloyd Dobbler but director Cameron Crowe was adamant about getting John Cusack. Also, there was a tie between Ione Skye and actress Jennifer Connelly for the role of Diane Court.

1. I liked that movie
Cusack was perfect for the role - I can't see either Cameron or Slater but Downey could have done it. Wasn't he wasted all the time then, though?

2. and the song they used while filming was by Fishbone
if you check the bonus features of the DVD, the scene was filmed with a song by the punk-ska-joke band Fishbone, totally inappropriate for the scene... shows how much power is in the audio part of a film

3. Last scene filmed in the movie
I saw this on some TV show about the movie. Crowe had to get this shot but all his union guys (cameras lights etc.) were gone at the end of the day so he just kept shooting so he had footage to work with. If I remember correctly Cusack stood there for several hours with the boombox over his head and I think the lighting is all wrong-it is at the end of the day and it is supposed to be in the morning.

Something like that.
