I have known my oldest friend since I was five (we are 47 now). We met the summer before kindergarten and went from kindergarten all the way through college together. Our families are close friends, our older sisters are the same age, it's almost more like family than anything else. We have had our ups and downs; have had some knock down drag outs, and live very different lives. She's divorced from a millionaire, lives in Florida with two over achieving kids and I'm single in Michigan, working for the public sector and a quasi-stepmother to my SO's three kids.
But...damn! Doesn't matter how long we've not spoken, just one phone call and we're back to us. I just had the longest, best conversation with her; I was feeling insecure after a visit from another college roommate but Old Friend put it all in perspective. I wouldn't trade her for anything!
