heh, shooting

I, for one, can't wait.

Trio called for HBO duty on "Pacific" - Yahoo! News

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Jon Seda, Ashton Holmes and Rami Malek have joined the cast of HBO Films' big-budget World War II miniseries "The Pacific," from executive producers Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg.

They join previously cast James Badge Dale, Val Lauren and Joe Mazzello in the 10-hour companion piece to Hanks and Spielberg's Emmy-winning 2001 saga "Band of Brothers."

"Pacific" tracks the intertwined odysseys of three U.S. Marines -- Robert Leckie (Dale), John Basilone (Lauren) and Eugene Sledge (Mazzello) -- across the vast canvas of the Pacific, from the first clash with the Japanese in the jungles of Guadalcanal to the triumphant return home after V-J Day.

1. Oooo, can't wait!
I STILL have not received the Band of Brothers box set I keep asking for for christmas! BOB was so good, it'll be tough to match, but I think they can do it.

2. Yay!!!
Yay!!!

Odd that it's focusing on only three unit members, rather than an entire company again.

I'm sure it will be a bit more disconcerting watching the combat sequences in this one as the PTO's combat was a bit less... nice than it was in the ETO.

But since it's Playtone and Dreamworks, I have no doubts it will be as fine as BoB was.

3. Good news. I was always amazed that Damien Lewis (Major WInters) is English. I thought the show
rated up their among the best TV ever made. I remember when it came out just after 9-11 -- it really got buried for a while.

4. Pacific

Just finished this book, it was incredible, I could watch Band Of Brothers 1000 times
and still have tears in my eyes at the end, this book is no different, I could not put it down.

This should be a good series, the Pacific does not get the mention as Europe theater always does
The Pacific part is what I have studied/read for the past 25years
:hi:

5. I'm reading it right now.
Great to hear accounts of Easy Company firsthand.

And man, Major Winters really hated Sobel. Other than giving him credit for instilling discipline in Easy, he has no mercy on the poor chump.

I'm also psyched about "The Pacific."

7. Sobel
"Capt Sobel, Capt Sobel, you salute the rank, not the man"

"Private Randelman, Lt Sobel doesnt hate Easy Company, he just hates you!!"

6. It's time. The Pacific is very overlooked
and of course was the place that made the men fighting in the European Theater feel a little better knowing there was someplace worse that they could be!

8. Overlooked -- too painful to recount perhap. Or so savage, its nothing you'd want to share.
